Lullabies Calm Parrot – Parrot News

September 1, 2006 by Shelly

Here’s a nice news story I just came across about a Blue and Gold Macaw. The large parrot was rescued by an animal lover in the UK, and the new owner purchased a CD of children’s songs to play to the bird. What is unique is that the songs include the parrot’s name – Lucy.

The owner feels that the songs had a great impact in overcoming Lucy’s traumas from her past, and the macaw is now a sweet and docile bird. I have seen these personalized CD’s myself but never thought to get one for my birds. Of course with seven birds, I would have to get seven sets of CD’s. I wouldn’t want anyone to feel left out! 🙂

I have sung songs to my birds and changed the words to include their names, and they really seem to love hearing their names in a song. You should try it – you might be surprised by your parrot’s reaction. It sure seems to have made the difference for Lucy!

Be sure to check out the full news article about Lucy the parrot.
