My Bird Laid an Egg - Help!
I've received several questions about egg laying recently, and this is definitely the season for it. Not all female Quakers lay eggs, but some do. Most owners are usually surprised when their single bird lays an egg, and many are often concerned by it and wonder what they should do.
A while back I wrote an article that discusses egg laying in parrots. It focuses more on chronic egg laying, but the advice in the article is still appropriate and helpful even if your Quaker only lays one or two eggs. If your pet Quaker has suddenly produced an egg and you're wondering what to do, this article on egg laying in parrots should help.

My quaker just laid an egg - we found it this morning. She had been acting weird for several weeks - crouching on the bottom of her (now we know its a "her" and not a "he")cage biting me. She had never done this. I tried to remove the egg and she attacked me so I will try to coax her out of her cage later w/food. I had a cockatiel that constantly laid eggs. I just want to make her more comfortable. Any suggestions?

I have a male and female Quaker, this is her 3 year that she has laid eggs. Each year she lays about 15 eggs. This year I started to take them out because in the pass the male has cracked them as soon as she laid them. Why does he do this, and will I be about to hatch them on my own?
