I have a question about milk. I know that parrots cannot drink it because they can't digest it. Does cooking with it make it different? What about in corn muffins and such? or adding to a food like oatmeal, where it's mixed in? I haven't given Ocho oatmeal because I make it with milk, and once, just for him, I made it with water, but he wouldn't eat it. I love the idea of almond milk, but in the meantime I was wondering if cooking makes it ok. I also get a scrambled egg mix from my mom occasionally that is eggs and milk.
Thanks for any feedback.
Here's a pic of Ocho enjoying a pepper top. We grilled today and he gets the scrap, which is his FAVORITE, anyway!

As I understand it, the lactose in milk will break down when used in baking, so its use in birdie bread shouldn't be a problem. It's better to leave the milk out of the oatmeal though, or at least limit it to a very rare treat.

I use water in the oatmeal I fix for the birds. I doubt that small amount of milk would harm them, but I fix People Oatmeal with water, and that's what the birds are used to.

And I've put small amounts of milk in birdie muffins and biscuits, and it doesn't seem to harm them at all. Mostly I use baby foods, canned pumpkin and eggs for the moisture though.
