My First Post: Video Of My Talking Quaker Parrot

About Yoshi: Hes 4 years old, knows 30-40 words/phrases and uses them all in the correct context, and even though at times he can be a pain in the neck (literally as seen in the video) I couldn't imagine life without him

Unbelievable! How did you train him to do that? How old is Yoshi?
I told the breeder to give me her smartest bird and she did. After owning a female cockatiel for 20 years I wanted something a bit smarter. And Yoshi is a complete handful because hes so smart. But its worth it.
In regards to training him, I just talk to him like a little kid using key words and matching it with actions and he picks up on them. When he can't communicate with me it makes him really upset so thats a big enough incentive for him to learn the new words and phrases.
As for his age, hes about 4 years old now.
Thanks everyone for looking and the warm welcome!

My QP has been with us a year and is picking things up...she will say "What's your PROBLEM?" when I touch her toys (just like a toddler.) When I am doing my homework and won't let her out b/c I need to concentrate, she'll say "Whatchya doin?" She gives smooches, too, when I ask her for them. She says "C'mere!" when she wants to come out of her cage and get attention. I'm impressed with how far she's come in a year, b/c we got her off Craigslist as a mature, neglected (possibly abused) nearly feral parrot.

where are u located? also question i never gave my harlee sunflower seeds is it ok???
I'm in Los Gatos and desperately need to make some quaker friends as I'll be out of town for 2 weeks and don't know what to do with Yoshi. I had a whole group of quaker owner friends that we would take turns watching each others birds with loving care. I could never bring myself to have yoshi at a boarding place. Plus since I just moved to the bay area from Vegas a few months ago its really tough finding any quaker owners out here
As for the sunflower seeds, I have yoshi on a bean diet now and no longer give him those fattening seeds. I buy a bean mix from amazon for parrots and he absolutely loves it. I just soak it and cook it in a pot till its soft. I also give him a few seeds from time to time because I think its healthy for him to be able to crack open seeds.
If you're in the bay area and interested in taking care of each others birds during traveling please let me know
