Tues. night I took Pico to a vet that was supposed to be familiar with birds but I feel she really didn't know that much. They over handled him I think and it made him really weak. I have been to 3 vets and tried numerous things-nothing worked. He was looking sick for the past 5 months or so. His wing feathers were curling at the ends and he stopped talking and he was puffed up and started chewing one wing. Iv'e been so upset watching him and the vet said both his wings were chewed all the way down and almost to the bone. He looked a bit better once he was in his cage at home and I petted him for a while and told him how much I loved him. The next morning I found him laying on his rope perch with his little head leaning on his fav. bell. So sad. I will bury him in my sister's pet cemetary where all our pets rest. I miss him so much. He was the sweetest little guy. I know I'll never have a Quaker like him again but I always wanted a baby one. I thought I would get one and try to fill the void. I know every one is different and I'm hoping he will be as sweet as Pico was. He's coming on Sun. My xmas present to myself. I will name him when I have him for a few day's. I will post pictures later of my new baby. I luv you Pico.

So sorry about Pico. I know how special he was to you, and how much he was loved. You and Pico are in my thoughts and prayers.

I understand what you're saying. After George passed away, I'd come home and say "Hello, George" when I came in, as I'd been doing for 40 years. It's a rough thing to experience.

All the best to you and your new parrot; I hope he/she fills your heart with happiness again.

Esther, I am so very sorry that you've lost Pico. I lost Max back in March of this year and the pain is still there. In fact, it seems I am missing her more the last few days.

I am glad that you are getting another Quaker. They are such fun little parrots. He won't be like Pico, but he will have his own little personality that you will quickly fall in love with.

Again, my condolences, I do hope your new addition helps ease the pain.

*hugs*

I still have rough days of crying over him - I miss him so much. I called the new Quaker Jasper. He is 4 months old now and he is starting to talk. He say's good boy and is mummbling other words but I can't make them out yet. He is very curious- playing with all his new toys tec. I leave the door open for a few hours and he will come out and go on the top of the cage to play. I lock my kitties up when he's out. He will step up on me but he won't sit on me yet. I'm getting him to eat out of my hand then I hope he will come to me and want to sit on me. If anyone has any tips on how to get them to trust you etc. I would luv to know what I could do.This pic. is Jasper.

Welcome to the group, Jasper. :) Is that a lot of yellow, and green on your tummy? You won't be able to use the AKA; Gray Breasted Parakeet. B)
