I really hope you all like the ProBoards forum as much as I do.  If anyone has any questions at all, PLEASE don't hesitate to ask. :)

I've spent some time copying and pasting some of the threads from here to the new forum.  If any of you want to give it a try, I would greatly appreciate some help.

Here's how to do it:

Open two tabs: One with the "old" forum: www.quakerparrots.com and one with the "new" forum: www.quakerparrotforum.com.

With the "new" forum active, and the section where you want to create your thread open, click "Create Thread" (located at the top right area of the section).

In the "Subject" line, type the same subject as on the "old" thread.  In this case, the thread title was too long "Quaker Won't Cuddle Anymore, Only Preens And Nibbles My Hair...?" so I had to shorten it.

With the "old" forum active and the thread you want to copy open, click and hold the left mouse button and move the mouse down to highlight the area you want to copy and paste.  Highlight from the poster's name to where it says "'Report', 'Multiquote' and 'Quote'".  Press Ctrl+C on your keyboard to copy the highlighted section.

NOTE: I like to copy and paste the original post seperate from the replies.

With the "new" forum active and your new post open, click anywhere in the body area (make sure the cursor is at the top) and press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the highlighted section from the "old" forum to your new post.

It will look something like this:

Click "Create Thread" (located at the bottom right).

Once the thread is created, go back to the "old" forum, highlight all of the replies at once (if there are multiple pages, post each page seperately), press Ctrl+C to copy, make the "new" forum active and go to the thread you just created, click anywhere in the "Quick Reply" box and press Ctrl+V to paste the replies you highlighted, then click "Post Quick Reply".

Hopefully this makes sense. :)

You'll be seeing this a whole lot, but I mean it....if you have questions about anything, please ask! :)

Thanks Dani - great instructions!

I wonder how long it will take us to copy all the posts from this forum to the new one?

Just kidding!!!! LOL

Dani has copied the sticky posts over along with some others that are ongoing conversations. There is some really good info in the archives of this forum, and it would make sense to identify some of that and begin to transition those threads over to the new forum as well. I've not quite figured out the best approach to do that, so if anyone has ideas we'd love to hear them.

Once we are completely on the new forum, I will be moving the main web site and this forum to a smaller web server. I am going to try to keep this forum available in a read-only mode, but it will depend on how well it runs on the new server. That's my goal tho - to keep it available so we can look up old threads and pull all of that QP info goodness out of this forum for some time to come. :)
