Hey everyone,
My quaker parrot has unfortunately passed away. He left us heart broken. He was fine the night before, being the cheeky monkey he is and the next morning he was on the floor of his cafe, struggling for breath. I tried everything i could, and took him to the vet, where later on that day they phoned me to tell me he had gone. What i am trying to say is make sure you get your parrot checked out regularly by a specialist on birds. Here in scotland there is hardly any and where i live there is none, and we were even planning to go to germany to see a specialist but Darwin didn't survive. It is absolutely heart breaking.. He was what made me look forward to coming home at night, and he was the one that took all my stress away with those cheeky eyes. When I came home, that glitter in those beady eyes was enough to forget my stress, but now they are gone...the house feels really empty and what kills me the most is that i will never be able to see those shiny cheeky eyes of his when i enter my house. When i went to get his body from the vet, those eyes were gone. His beautiful feathers weren't soft and fluffy, and the worst thing is that the body wasn't my baby Darwin. He is now placed in my garden where we buried him with a yellow tulip on top that has now opened up, releasing not even the slightest amount of happiness Darwin released, but when we do look at the yellow plant, Darwin's eyes are reminded. I didn't just lose a bird, I lost my best friend.
