My Quaker was found today on the bottom of her cage. We had her for about 15 years. She had seen an avian vet from day one. He is unable to do a necropsy as he is out of town. When we found her she was lying on her side and one foot was still clutching the bottom cage bar, She was sitting where she sits in order to be closest to me when I am working. Her eyes were open, and I was wondering if this is common. She was older and did not have any other signs of trauma. Any thoughts? Thank You.

So sorry you lost your baby. :( At 15, she was only middle aged. You can preserve her, until the Vet gets back in town.

I was going to but he said he would have been too long and referred me another vet school. When I thought about it, we really don't know how old she was. We bought her at a pet store in a military town, so we really do not know her history before us. We have another bird (Amazon) and he is not showing any signs of sickness. We are taking comfort that she lived a much better life with us than she might have otherwise.
So sorry you lost your baby. :( At 15, she was only middle aged. You can preserve her, until the Vet gets back in town.

I am Sandswepte, but the boards would not let e sign in and they said they did not have my email address on record. Oh well :-) Thank you everyone for your kind words, I still really miss her, but I am considering an adoption.
