May 18 - Forum Outage Earlier Today Options

Hi friends,

It seems that yesterday our forum software was compromised. The person who did this was able to circumvent the forum's security and place some malicious code on the forum pages and on the main page of QuakerParrots.com. This is not something that was unique to us but rather it has occurred on hundreds of forums over the last week or so.

I discovered what had happened early this morning (a huge thanks to those who alerted me). I had to leave for work and did not have much time to analyze the situation, so I took the entire site offline in order to protect you all from whatever this person had done in case the malicious code could infect someone's computer.

I'm still not clear on what type of trouble this exploit causes. My virus and spyware scanners did not find anything on my pc although I visited the affected pages. Still, it would be prudent for all of you to do full virus and spyware scans of your system just to insure your pc is clean. This is especially important if you visited the forum from 2AM thru 7AM (eastern time) today, May 18th.
