I received an e-mail from Bird Talk that they had put Star's story on their website. Its a condensed version of what I sent but brought tears to my eyes again. Here is the link if you would like to read it scroll down to "In Memory of Star".

It loaded fine for me Julie. What a lil trooper Star was.
Julie here ya go, this is from the site, there's also a pic of pretty lil star on the site if you can get it to load.

"Star (11/05 - 11/06)

Star was a white-face pearl cockatiel. I noticed after pulling for hand-feeding that she had trouble controlling her neck and head. Her head also rested all the way back onto her back. I found out she had Stargazers Disease. No one knows for sure what causes it, but they don't live more than a year or two. I was told to put her down, but by then she was 8 weeks old, cuddly and sweet, and I couldn't bear to do it. She had her own cage, with her food and toys at floor level -- she couldn't perch because she didn't have any balance.

Her favorite toy was a ball with a bell in it, which she would push around the floor of her cage or pick up and throw. Her favorite thing to do was cuddle in my hand against my chest and receive numerous scritches while cooing and telling me how much she loved me. She didn't live a normal ’tiel life, but she was loved and lived the life she knew. Star passed away three days after her first birthday and is now finally flying and perching as a bird should do, waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge."

Star was my cockatiel that had Stargazers Disease. I lost her in November and joined here in Feb.

I'm so sorry Julie, I didn't mean to upset you! I am just so proud that they put Star's story on Bird Talk. But yeah, I still get teary when I re-read it! She was such a sweetie, but she didn't know there was anything wrong with her, she could eat and play and cuddle, she just couldn't perch or fly.

No problem Yvonne...I just get so emotional when somthing like this goes wrong..It just breaks my heart...I know it wasns't intended to upset anyone; but that is just me, I tend to peek anyway to see what it is all about...

Yes, it was great that Bird Talk had the story in there....It is sad the way it is, but then again it is educational in so many ways....Thanks again....
