I have a blue keet that we have has since she was 6 weeks old her name is Lucy. We are looking for her Desi.lol. Tomorrow I am going to pick up our new addition a green Quaker named JU JU. The lady I am getting him from just got an African Grey and said she does not need 2 parrots because she does not want them to bond to each other. Can someone explain this to me I have seen many people on here with multiple parrots. I am just glad that I was the 1st one to show up at her house Ju Ju was free I have to pay her for the cage friday.

Hmmmm seems kinda strange to me. African Greys and Quakers should be kept caged apart and if you allow them to interact (which isn't recommended) they should always be supervised. The chances of a Grey and a Quaker bonding are very slim.

Usually the bonding rule applies to two birds, of the same species, that are caged together. Having said that, I've seen birds of different species bond to one another (again, they were caged together but of similar sizes and dispositions).

I doubt you'll have issues with your Quaker bonding with the keets (they should definitely be kept apart). But the keets may bond with one another if you have them caged together.

Bonding isn't always a bad thing either. I have several birds that are caged together and bonded with each other. We can still handle them with no difficulties.

Well I can say my crew hasn't followed that. I've got 12 birds and 5 of them are talkers. In fact, a couple of mine will 'talk' to each other from across the room. They've had some pretty funny conversations. And Max, my QP, will say 'it's okay' if one of the other birds starts to make a ruckus.

I keep my birds on opposite sides of the room. I do not want them to bond with each other because I have friends who have let that happen and one of her birds will protect the other one from HER when she goes near them. That "body guard" bird used to love her to death.

My QP cries like a day old baby and every time she does, my Sun Conure laughs hysterically. It's really funny!
