So - Louie has picked up some Budgie sounds and is actually very good in sounding just like one of the Budgies, however, the Canary immitation is a whole different matter.

Cody, the canary, has the most beautiful song. I always say "what a pretty song" when sings. Well, Louie has picked up that phrase and when he hears Cody sing, he will say "what pretty song" and then actually try to sing/whistle to sound like the canary, except it sounds more like a cat screaming blink.gif and the first time I heard it from the other room, I came up running, thinking he was hurt or something dreadful happened to him.

Geesh, somebody needs to tell him that he won't make it on American Idol anytime soon. blush.gif

Honestly, I wish he would stop. I'm afraid the neighbors may call the ASPCA thinking that an animal is being tortured at my house! sad.gif

LMBO Seasa! I can't help but chuckle as I sit here and imagine you in the other room - calmly cooking dinner or the like - and hearing, what you think is the canary, belt out some off-tune song that equates to the sound of (to quote someone from earlier on here) pigs being slaughtered!

Frankie and Isabelle haven't even started to try mimicking the budgies, but I do notice the lovies go back and forth with them.

lol!
My poor little birdies don't have any pretty songbirds to mimic. And even worse, when I sing to them it must be frightful! Poor little things don't stand a chance!

My 2 Quaker girls live with a very musically inclined male cockatiel. Gizmo ('Tiel) whistles 2 or 3 songs and PeeWee has managed to pick up The Andy Griffith Theme! It's really cute, but you can definitely tell which one is singing at any given time. laugh.gif

Oh, I thought you meant sing songs. laugh.gif

Charlie can sing a few Foreigner and Billy Idol songs.

LOL - I was doing dishes downstairs - and YES - "pigs being slaughtered" is definitely a more accurate description of the noise he makes ~~definitely NOT singing like the canary. laugh.gif As far as real singing with words, well he's not good at that either. That boy can't hold a tune in a bucket. wacko.gif

It's so fun to hear them imitate each other. When trying to coax mine back into their cages in the evening, I call out to them, C'mere.

Now Paco is repeating "C'mere" while I'm chasing the cockatiels around the room to get back to their cages.

And, then, the CAG, Gracie, imitates Paco's little high pitched voice, and I hear "C'mere" from both sides of the room.

Aren't they just adorable?

lol Seasa

that is so cute. Yogi tries and I do mean tries to be a singing partner whenever Raven starts his tiel singing.

This sends Raven into a spin (can't say I blame him..Yogi um isn't a very good singer), and Raven gets louder to try and drown out Yogi. This makes matters worse, because then Raven's singing is more of a desperate attempt to outshine Yogi. Well you can imagine the high pitched caterwauling laugh.gif

A friend of mine had to leave town for about a week, and asked me to take car of his alexandrine parrot. (similiar to a indian ringneck) Well kiwi(the alexandrine)makes this awful ear piercing screech. he also says hello, kiwi, mia, ella elsa, come 'ere, go pee, and go potty.of all those things, the only thing otis picked up was the awful ear piercing noise. it sounds like a fire alarm. He loves waking me up each morning with it. *sigh* oh well

my quaker can do some pretty good robin imitations but in re to singing actual songs his voice sounds like a gruff donald duck which I find cute.

on the other hand.......
My Umbrella cockatoo can somewhat sing but if you didnt see who was singing you would think you were in some pub where a woman has had too much. She def cant whistle...thats the horrible part..she will try to whistle like the other birds and this really awful sound comes out of that sweet angelic body.
