Well I'm happy to say Crush is fine.
But Dori is not, she will not eat has watery poops and vomits. Any one want to take a guess whats wrong with her.
Yep you guessed it. Worms but this time its TAPE WORMS.
When does it end? They have been treated for everyother kind of worms. I actually seen the worm this time. I called the new vet I've been using and he just gave me meds with out taking her in. Still I paid $25 for four pills. I hope this works.

Goodness me! Poor Dori...
Is there any area of the property where they may have pooped and keep getting into it Kathy? I know you have a farm, so that'd be like looking for a needle in a field of haystacks but these worms gotta be hiding out somewhere!!!!!!!! The buggers.
Man... I feel bad for whoever took the rest of those puppies just based on the problems you've had! Hopefully you are getting lots of slobbery basset kisses to make up for the hassle

Hey Kathy, Why did you switch vets? Was you taking your pets to Springdale? I switch to the vet in Springdale that you told me about. Is there a reason why you don't take your pets there anymore????

I still take my birds there in springdale. I was taking my dogs to the one here in Lincoln. But I switched during the whole Crush thing.
They have never been treated for Tapeworms before and according to
the vet the other wormers don't treat tapeworms. So this is a whole
new thing.

I was going to take my cat there and have him neuter next friday. What do you think of that???
I'm on the fence about that place in Lincoln.

Meeka
I'm sure it will be fine. If your not sure call Vinewood clinic. Its at the bottom of the hill as you are leaving Lincoln on the right. 846-4151. The vet in Lincoln did nothing wrong for Crush I was just getting frustrated on the whole ordeal.

I had a shih tzu that got tapeworms from a cat. My vet said that was fairly common if the dog "checked" out a cat that had them. I do recall they were easy to get rid of. Seems like it was 4 HUGE purple pills. Those tapeworms are nasty tho. You can actually SEE them. UGHHHHHHH is right LOL

I'm so tired of this. I don't think I have ever worked so hard to make a dog healthy. I've always just had them wormed and gave them their shots. Then they were good to go. I've never seen so many problems with puppies.
Its so wierd cause Dori was always rowdy and Crush was always sickly and laying around now its the other way around.
As big as this worm was the vet is saying it may have come from the mother. I hope the other dogs were healthier and have happy homes now. Those people really make me sad.

Also, make sure to have your vet do a fecal exam after treating to make sure the problem is taken care of.

I can't remember how old Crush and Dori are, (this is for dogs 8 weeks or older) but I have a great cure for fleas, worms and by also repelling mesquitos, it's a heartworm prevention as well.
This info was given to me by a "no-kill" shelter when I adopted my dog Savannah. They sell the EXPENSICE stuff, REVOLUTION, but they USE the very same thing in a "dirt cheap" version.
It's IVER-ON
It's Ivermectin liquid for cattle and you get it at farm supply stores (like Tractor Supply).
A bottle that would probably treat your 2 dogs for a year costs $20 to $22 depending on where you get it.
You use it just like you do Revolution or Frontline. (It is the same things as Revolution). You just use a syringe and squeese it between the shoulder blades and down the backbone to the tail.
You don't have any more fleas, ticks, mesquitos and your dogs will not have the worry of heartworms.
You use 1 1/2 cc per 14 pounds of dog, once a month. Just adjust amount according to weight.
Some dogs are allergic to it, but that is RARE. It won't do any serious damage, but you will know if they are allergic by the huge amount of itching or drooling...usually in Aussies, Collies, Shelties and GSDs. In that case, bathe and discontinue use.
The dogs can have a bath as soon as 2 hours after treatment.
(Control of fleas, heartworm, ticks and mites including ear mites and the Sarcoptic mange mite in dogs)
Hope this helps

Kathy, next time you have them wormed, ask the vet about drontal. That's what I use, and it's supposed to be good for all the common worms, including tapes.
