Thanks, he is a real pistol!! Like a lot of bird people who fall in love with birds my dream bird was a African Grey. My cousin called me last June while I was off for knee surgery and told me he was looking for a good home for his 2 year old grey. Turns out his 16 year old daughter was jealous of the bird and mad because the family wasn't "consulted" before the bird was bought. My cousin had picked him out of a clutch while being handfed, visited him frequently to bond with him better and since he is disabled was with Rocky 24/7. But to keep peace in the family he gave Rocky to me along with his manson they had bought him. We drove to Nashville to meet him halfway to get him. Once we got home I found I had a problem. While he adores my husband, I am, of course, his primary care giver and he HATES women. Not just me, my daughter or any women who walks near his cage he goes into attack mode. It's a little tricky changing his food and water! If he flies off his cage he will step up and "allow" me to transport him back to his cage. *sigh* I am allowed to talk with him but that is the only interaction he will allow even after 6 months. But I intend to be persistent until he gives in enough to at least be comfortable with me when hubby not around.
