I have a very small branch that I picked up from my parent's house today that I want to use as a perch for my new baby. It's from their magnolia tree which I read was safe. I know you are supposed to bake them, but how long and at what temp? I'm afraid of it catching on fire! It's really small and already dry... Any tips? Anyone done it before?

Thanks guys, I'm so glad you're here to answer my questions blush.gif

In the past, when I've made branches, I've soaked them in a mild bleach solution for a while...that seemed to work for me! Just be sure to rinse off very well.

To bake them..from what I've heard, you first scrub the branches clean with hot water, then bake at the lowest temperature possible for 1/2 hour, but make sure you supervise it carefully!

My birds love the natural branches, in fact, I picked up some Arbutus branches while on the West Coast, the birds will LOVE those! I got to treat those soon too.
