Here goes I'm in Boston bored and checking out Craigslist Pets and find this listing for a Red Lored needing a new home with a picture one look I can tell they don't know what they have it's a Lilac Crowned Amazon. I wait a week and check yes they still have it so I drive out to look, and here is what I see a beautiful young 1yr old bird in a cage set at knee height with two black cats circling the cage to which they tell me "Oh they are afraid of her, their just courious." she has a sweet temperment and comes right to me as the person (I use the term lightly) Proceeds to tell me he has to move out of his parents home and he can't find or afford an apt that allows pets.
To bad the people who sold him the bird as a baby 8 months old didn't at least find out if he knew anything about birds guess they were blinded by the $1000.00 he was willing to pay for the bird and cage.
He was feeding her seed diet and antibiotic in her water daily, and worst of all not a toy in sight.
Well if you guessed by now I couldn't walk away from her plight and just paid him his adoption fee and got her out of there her cage is sitting on my desk and she is wolf whistling at me as I type her cage has 6 new toys and a new perch. Today she had a shower on the shower perch I'd say it was the first time she ever had a bath because her water dish was too small for her to bathe in. She also has found the delight of scrambled eggs and Popcorn. I bought her for resale but rest assured she will only go to a home with people who know a bird from their butt.
Now how do you go about reporting a disease like MBS?

OOOOOOOOO......she is gorgeous! The good thing about it is she wasn't with him long and she is so young that with love and the attention she deserves she will do great. Thank you for being her angel!!PS Don't think they have started the research for MBS yet so we are all in trouble for a long time to come

Wow, she is beautiful. I thought that I was over MBS, with the three that I already have. WRONG!!!! I must stay away from all pet stores, because if I saw a bird like that and she came to me, it would be all over. Good for you for giving her a good home.

Big Cheer going to James for rescuing her! She is amazing - you will have a hard time giving her up I bet wink.gif Kate - the first picture shows the lilac on her head better - it is a lighting thing with the picture - if not then you might want to check your screen colours - they might need a bit of adjusting wink.gif

The lilace is on top of the head, behind the red, the lighting in the first pic makes it hard to see, and the angle of her head in the second hides it.
