Ok, I am a tad worried, Valentine is too quiet this morning, normally after a good night sleep he is very vocal, loud and playful. At the moment he just wants to be held by me and cuddled, no nipping, no screeching just wants to put his head in my cupped hand and go to sleep. In the couple of weeks since he has come in my home this is a first for him, I am loving it but is it normal ?

Is he fluffed up too? Quiet and wanting to cuddle can be a sign of something wrong. I would rather be safe than sorry and take him to an avian vet to be checked...Was he perching when you got him up or on the bottom of his cage?

Hope to hear good news from you, that he's doing fine...

He was sittting on his cage door waiting for me to chat with him which is what he normally does in the morning, he is eatting and drinking so I will see what he does in a next couple of hours. He was fluffed up while being cuddled .

I hope that hes ok. My Xerxey is usually quiet when its doomy and gloomy outside. was the day like that for you? Ive noticed that in his pattern that Xerxey is really chipper and vocal when the sun is shining and then hes rather quiet on rainy days. though he will chatter some of the times.

I hope all is well with him now and he will be fine. If you ever see him puffed and not feeling well, put a lamp near him for the warmth of a lightbulb. It works miracles!!! wub.gif

What you described was exactly what Harley went through a few weeks ago...no nipping, no screeching, fluffed up, sitting sit, but yet would eat...Off to the vet we went and found out my baby had an ear infection and he was weezing in one of his lower air sacs.
Gave him a shot of Baytril and gave me some to give him with a syringe twice a day for 10 days. Man, when he found out that Baytril was like candy, he wanted it all the time.... laugh.gif ..but had to stop it....
He sure scared me because he has never acted like this in the 4 1/2 years we have been together....He is doing great now....So just keep watching Valentine for awhile yet just in case...Hope he is alright....Give us an update please....

Thanks for all advice given to me..so far valentine has been ok, but I am still keeping a close eye on him. I'm going to take him for a vet visit in anyways to get his nails clipped, too nervous to do it myself and while I am there I will get a full check up done on him.

The sooner the check up the better, because birds are experts on hiding their illnesses until it's almost too late...just don't wait too long...
