Hi there
We recently got our Lucy, and bought a cage (24x22x32). This cage has a playgym on top, therefore the top of her cage is 'covered'. I was looking at www.featherbrite.com for some full spectrum lighting. How would I attach this to the cage? Even if I got a swag light - will the light still 'reach' her and be beneficial if the top of the cage is completely blocked? unsure.gif

I want to get some full spectrum lighting as we are approaching fall and in Canada we get such little light (at least where I am) in the fall/winter months. Should I just buy a full spectrum light bulb and put it in a lamp beside her cage?

thanks
Renee
ps - I will try and upload a pic or two tomorrow!

What I've done for Nessie is get the globe into a clip desk lamp, its like a student desk lamp but it has something similar to a bulldogs clip onto it and that then clips onto the wire of the cage and you can bend the "neck" of the light around so it can aim into the cage. Just make sure though that it isn't too close to the bird, we had to extend ours and luckily my other half is smart and re-wired it so he could do it properly but I wouldn't know how to extend it otherwise... I hope that helps somewhat

i have a cage close to yours and what we did, is my partner rigged up a hanging light fixture (you can buy just the hanging light fixture at lowes) and put the bulb inside, and we angled it to the side...about a foot away! which is highly recommended (from vet) and ive read where if its too close, it can actually burn their skin! hope this helps
