Gday

Im Luke and Im 13 years old from Adelaide, South Australia.

I currently just have one budgie named Boomer (sky blue opaline hen) and am looking for a type of parrot.

After a bit of reading and going to a breeders place, I believe that the quaker is the bird for me!
the breeder had a blue quaker out of its cage and it followed her every where! looking for scritches and all.

Does anyone know the prices of quakers in australia? this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Luke.

G'day Luke & Boomer.
Welcome to the forum.
Nice to meet you.

Its great to see you are looking into Quakers b4 you get one.
You will learn heaps on this forum.
If you have any questions, just ask them.
Someone will answer them for you.

We paid $400 for our handreared blue Quaker last year.
(the pic below is of our blue quaker called Donut)
Greens were going for $250.

I guess the price would be about the same still.

Good luck,

Tricia.

Quakers do take a lot of your time. If your willing to give it 4 hrs. or more out of cage time a day and play with him and keep the cage cleaned every day then your ready for one. I just don't like to see people get Quakers and then have to re-home them because they do and will bite or didn't have enough time for them etc. So researching a breed is very important before buying one.If you know all this first and are willing to put up with biting and the time involved every day to insure it's health and happiness then your ready for one.

Thanks very much.

You both have very beautiful birds!

My grandpa breeds parrots and takes very good care of his birds, I go to his place alot to spend time with the birds and pa.

Thanks for the advice!
im sure you will see me around the forum.

Cheers,
Luke.

Welcome to another Aussie ..
My Blue cost $500.00 5yers ago ...

This is a price from a breeder you will pay much more from a pet store..

If yon can`t find a breeder in your area get the Australian Birdkeeper Magazine they have ads from Breeders ..its a better way to go than through a pet shop..

Hiya and welcome
I paid $550 for my Nessie but
I did get her from a pet shop so they generally ask for more
I guess, and she is a blue. Good to see you researching, and
we are a friendly bunch so don't be afraid to ask questions

Hi there!

I just joined the Quaker Parrots forum the other day, and I found your post through google. I'm also from South Australia, and I was wondering what Quaker breeder you were talking about that you visited? I'm also curious about whether or not you got one! Hehe. I'm thinking about getting one myself (well, I'm hoping Mum will let us!) and I'm looking around for prices. I've been researching these birds for a while, and they look like so much fun! Not to mention a lot of work, I know, but I'm guessing it's worth it! biggrin.gif

Your help (and anyone else's!) would be very much appreciated! c: (I also PM'd you, just to be sure xD)
