We live in a log house in the country, which is great except when winter is approaching <sigh>.

The local mouse population seems to think this is their newest Country Resort.

Since Hannah isn't with us anymore, I guess the mice can sense a cat-free area, and have decided they like the log house as much as we do dry.gif

So the husband and I decided we needed to get a cat. Now it couldn't be just any cat obviously, because I have the fiddo's.

The cat in question would have to be neutered/spay (I do NOT want kittens, or have to deal with meowing from a sexually in season female, or the spraying from an intact male).

Said cat would also have to be declawed, so the fiddo's wouldn't be scratched. Declawed in advance was also mandatory, because I would never be brave enough to take a cat in to have it done.. ouch.

So I started watching ads for cats needing homes. Older cats are harder to find homes for, so decided I'd take in one of those.

Found an ad on Craigslist for a 4 yr old male, neutered, declawed cat that had to be rehomed due to allergies.

Perfect!

Emailed the woman, and went out to get him.. this guy is adorable!

My first glimpse of him had me saying "look at that gorgeous face". My second glimpse when he stood up was shock laugh.gif

This is a longhaired cat, so I was expecting a big fluff ball.. not so my friends. Ramsay's previous owner had him groomed and he has the lion cut hairdo going on heheheeh.

Brought him home, thinking the hair will grow in and all will be good.

After a few days though, his look has kind of grown on me, and I think he is beautiful. Spoke to my vet about it, and he has assured me that it's quite common to have long haired cats groomed in such a manner to cut down on hairballs.

I've been brushing the fur he does have daily, and I can see why it would be a problem with hairballs. Holy cow.. this little guy loses a lot of fur while being brushed.

So I'm still not sure if I'll keep him groomed with this hairdo, but it's looking like I might.

Here are a couple of pics of Ramsay.

He is beautiful and I love the hair cut! How wise you are to choose an older one.

I have 2 Persian males and every Spring I have the groomer give them the 'Lion Cut'. They seem to enjoy it (afterwards), running around the house all frisky, and it definitely eliminates the Spring time shedding problem. It looks so wierd at first but does grow on you. I really like the look now.

Again, gorgeous cat.

I wrote an article once about someone opening a new pet grooming business and this was the cut they showed us for the photo to accompany the article. laugh.gif Ramsay might not mind, but let me tell you, the cat she showed us did not like it one bit. He'd just got his haircut and you know how cats are when they're mad at you.

My last cat was a long-haired blond like Ramsay. I still miss him. His name was Sundance (as in Butch Cassidy and ... ) but I called him Sunny for short.
