His GI tract has been kind of a mess for the past few days. After his enema saturday he immediately got constipated again and monday had ANOTHER enema. He produced a HUGE amount of stool and this one really wiped him out. He was pretty lethargic monday, I started giving him some pedialyte monday evening and he seems to have bounced back. He is still a bit drained but getting back to his perky self. However I decided to switch him back to the canned KMR thinking maybe the powdered formula was causing the constipation and now he has diarrhea. Poor fella can't find a happy medium!!
The doctor who delivered Little was working monday when he went in for his enema (I usually don't see her because she works on my days off) and told me the real story about him. When they started shaving mom for the c-section she had hemhorraging all over her stomach, had obviously gotten into rat poison or something similar. So the owner opted to euthanise and wanted to abort the litter of kittens because they weren't full term. The doctor persisted and asked if she could just check and see if any were alive before the euthanised and the owner agreed. One kitten was stuck in the birth canal and had obviously been there a few days. The other two were alive (Little and his sister who passed away the next day). Aparently Little was the worst off of the two kittens..the doctor said his heart kept stopping and she was doing CPR for about 30 minutes before he finally came around.
And yet here he is today. Talk about will to live..or devine intervention, I'm not sure which. Either way this kitten really shouldn't be alive. Lucky little buggar!!!
