I just made a batch of Harrison's bird bread. Frost loves it, especially with a tiny bit of almond butter on top. Question: does bird bread count the same as pellets? That is, is it okay if the bread makes up part of that 80 percent of the diet that should be pellets? Frost eats the Harrison's pellets, but I'm not sure if she eats enough of them. She'd much rather have the bread.

Here's what I found on the Harrison's site:

Serving Suggestions
• May make up to 30% of the daily diet.
• If prepared with the addition of fruits, vegetables or nuts, Bird Bread should be considered a “treat” and fed only in limited quantities (no more than 10% of the daily food allotment when combined with all other treats).
• Can be served warm.
• Some flavorings (vanilla, maple) or herbs can be added as long as they do not change the nutritional content.

Harrison's is a brand name. They sell a packaged bird bread. I use it and my FIDS love it. I add some veggies to it .. and a bit of organic baby food as well. Just Google Harrison's Bird Food and you'll find a ton of links on where to purchase.

Thanks. That's great. I bake the bread in tiny muffin papers and she lunges for it when she sees it.

I'm too lazy to deal with muffin cups. I just pour the mix in a Pyrex baking dish, then cut it up into squares .. freeze some, keep some ready. The first time I made it, I used mini muffin cups .. lol .. again just too lazy to do that again, much easier to dump it all into a pan and bake!!
