ok so JA had questions about cages a while back and the topic of bow front cages came up. we had just gotten new cages for goofy and zuzu, but zuzu's was damaged. we took his damaged cage back to the guy who sold it to us and hoped to get the same thing but undamaged. we ended up leaving with a bigger bow front cage, against my better judgement. i believe i actually told ian that zuzu was a member of the family, not a trophy to be gawked at - this door is HUGE, swings completely open and even comes completely off, and when cleaned it looks like there is NOTHING there.

well, it's working out wonderfully for us. we just positioned the bow front door to the back (which would have been up against the wall anyway) and use the littler side door as his entrance. we attached a rope perch to the "front" of the cage and the door, so he can get right out when the door opens. the bow front gives me a lot more space in which to hang toys, and the huge bow front door makes cleaning his cage a BREEZE. there's even a deep drawer under the cage to store stuff. not easily accessable the way we positioned it, but still functional once we swing the cage out about 90 degrees. the only thing i really don't like is the shape - i much prefer the rectangular shapes for paper placement.

so i just wanted to get a thumbs up for the bow front cage we have, since i really thought it would suck and am pleasantly surprised. smile.gif

It's great to have some feedback on those types of cages. I can see where the paper placement might be an issue, but other then that, sounds like a great style of cage.

this is the cage we got, i believe it's the 32x32 size - i know it's not the 2 smaller ones, and it's a lot more room than zuzu uses presently. our cage guy has a deal with the drs people - he buys wholesale lots of returns and such, and this one was a floor model that they couldn't or wouldn't sell. i believe we got ours for $275. i can't get a pic of it right now because everyone is in bed, but i'll try to get some pics this weekend after they get cleaned.

ok i got a couple pics of zu's cage. interesting. for the last few times i've tried to upload a pic, i haven't had success. it lets me choose my image and acts like it's going to upload it, but when it's all said and done there is no attachment to manage.

grr. anyone able to shed some light on this problem? or post for me if i send the pics??

Well I have spent a little time trying to find where I can get these cages in Australia and it doesn't appear I can! I might just have to contact them and see if they have an Australian distributor. I think they are beautiful!
