Hello All! I am very excited about joining this group as I have recently adopted a 6 year old green quaker named Joey, although I tend to call him JoJo. He's a pretty sweet boy although he has his quirks: 1) He's got some funky issue with his feet, so he has issues with his balance and grip and stuff....but he's adorable. 2) He has a bit of cage aggression. It's weird because as soon as he is out of the cage he is sweet as pie, but I currently have the scars to prove it. 3) When he sees me eat, he gets MAD and screams. I have just been ignoring him or calmly and quietly say "Jojo Stop!"

I am also the mom to 3 other fids: Sparky the cockatiel, Fizzy the Senegal Parrot and Roshi the Black Capped Conure!

I look forward to getting to know you!

Cathy

Hi Cathy!!!

Youre going to find pretty quickly that cage aggression and a territorial nature is perfectly natural in these little guys. Quakers are one of the few parrots that builds and maintains complex nesting sites which they defend tooth and nail. ... well, and beak. I think almost everyone here will say exactly what you just did - on the cage theyre borderline dragon-like and once theyre off and no longer worried about territory bounderies theyre sweet as pie. I rescued a 5 year old little girl three weeks ago... FUN isnt it!

Dont be shy and jump right in. The people here are amazing.

He is my first quaker. Kind of an "impulse" adoption. He's a little crazy but very snuggly! smile.gif
