If you want to donate or find someone willing to purchase these items from you here is the place to post that.
If you have things you need this would also be the place to post it.
I have 5 special needs birds so I am always looking for just the right things to help them get along.
Peanut is missing several toes, and has splayed leg syndrome. Paulie has emotional issues, as Does Buddy. Ricky is a very nervous bird with stress issues and Lucy is partially blind. It is very challanging to find the right toys with in a budgeted amount when you have eight birds but more so when 5 are special needs.
If you see something posted that is needed and you have it, or if you have something some one might need repond in PM the poster. Once your item is gone post back to this forum that the item as been adopted/sold ect.
I think we can help many birds out there.

What a great idea!
The only toy I have right now that no one is interesting in is a hanging toy that looks like a rocker or something. It's plastic and has a bell at the top, but neither of birds seem interested in this toy. If anyone thinks their bird(s) would enjoy, gimme a shout out and I'll send it along.
(Oh, and Cheryl, I just wanted to share that I tried your idea of a toy box, and my bird that doesn't like to play is absolutely in love with emptying and refilling it

Thanks for the great suggestion!)
Oh! I think another thing that might appropiate in this thread is for people with multiple birds or speical needs or a limited budget or even who cannot find a certain toy to make a list. That way, next time someone like me is going shopping for bird toys, if they see something on the list they can maybe purchase it (I have a real problem when it comes to buying bird toys... I have no self control)!
I love this thread idea Cheryl! It's awesome!
Oh! This is another idea, is there any way to make this is a sticky thread? You know, one that stays up at the top even if no one posts in it?
(which, consequently, might be a good idea for andie's seed conversation method, since it is so regularly useful!)

Great idea, Cheryl! Can we make another section, "Items Wanted or Needed" under the "For The Bird Lovers" section of the forum? If not, how about another section being added in the member profile? Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

Much of this has already be discussed and decided by Shelly. We are just waiting for her to have time to start making things a reality.
Be patient! Good things come to those who wait. Lets keep this topic here just for Wanted, needed and unwanted, unneeded items.
I will put up a suggestion box in a minute.

I've got a small bucket of LaFebers cockateil pellets that we had got to try to switch Fez from Rowdybush to (I can't buy Rowdybush locally, and then it didn't matter, cause it turns out that he wasn't eating rowdybush anyway.. but that's a different story).. but he hates it!
If anybody birds eat this, and would like it, I'll pack it up in a freezer bag, and mail it off

CUTTY I know a I have heard a lot of you buy happy huts only to have your birds freak out.

Cheryl - YOU ARE BEYOND SWEET TO THINK OF CUTTY! I love this little man SO much - it is so nice that so many of you here do, too.
I actually made a BUNCH of "happy huts" following Dee's instructions back in January. Nico doesn't use his too often, but Cutty sleeps in his all the time.
I am going to make an appointment soon with another local avian vet with many years of experience to go over Cutty's issues since we have had him. This vet, Dr. C, actually works in the vet clinic that I take my cats to - I didn't know he was an avian vet until Auntie Edna told me about him! Dr. B is happy to give us all of Cutty's records since November to share with Dr. C.
Cheryl - thank you - and thank you to PurpleSmurf for offering the hut. You guys are THE BEST!

Let us know what types of things you will need to help Cutty and maybe some of us can get a few things for him. I know I would love to get him something! The poor dear! I can't imagine how hard it is for him, as I know he is worse then even Peanut who really wobbles and rolls to get around.

If you can pay for shipping I have a few cages that would probably workout for you and I could send them for free + a happy hut if you'd like. Send me a PM if you're interested and I can give you pictures and other information.

I'd like to get on the list for the Higdon book.
Also, I'll probably in a few weeks have some toys to pass out. I got Ruby a lot of stuff and so far she's show ZERO interest in them

I'm going to look up the toy box advice. I got her a toybox but it's on the bottom of the cage, so I don't know. Frustration. Anyway...Thanks all!
PS: Put me on the list as well to buy something for Cutty. Even if it's just a sack of pellet, I'd love to help.

Hey everyone. Well, as you all know, I am handraising a baby wren. Lil Wren (still don't have a name for him) is getting big, and has moved up in the world to a cage. I was wondering if anyone had anything appropriate for a bird his size (about 20 grams) that they have no use for. Perches or toys (have no clue if he will even play with any toys), or in particular a happy hut or one of those cozies that hang on the side of the cage. I promise once I am working again and I am buying toys and such, I will have things to offer to everyone else. I know Casey...most likely half the things I'll buy her she'll absolutely hate.

Thanks everyone.

I have a happy hut that I would gladly send you. It's never had a bird in it. It's too small for my qp, or even my tiels, but I bet it's just the right size for a wren. It's green and fuzzy, and in perfect shape. Now I have to find it...

Send me a PM if you're interested.

Hey everyone. I have a bag of Zupreem Embrace hand feeding formula that Michelle sent me (thank you). The intent was to use it for the baby wren, but found out after I received it that it wasn't suitable for him due to his nutritional requirements. Michelle said it has only been opened since July 7, and I believe the unused formula in the open bag stays good for 90 days after it's opened. I have no use for it now, and neither does Michelle. She asked me to post it here to see if it could be passed on to someone else. It's stored in my refrigerator in a ziploc bag. If anyone is interested in it, please pm me.

I do have this "Swing" toy that someone made for me out of a wooden spoon but they hung it sideways so it looks like it would be uncomfy. Jack is scared of it because it has those beads that have like three prongs on them.. don't know how to describe them..but he's scared of them! lol Maybe someone could use it as just a toy and not really a swing?

I'm not sure if this is right for me to ask, but I just want to help these guys.
A family member has 2 cockatiels and their cage has only 2 toys in it

One that is so old and chewed on that it is just about falling apart, and one that i bought for them.she says they doesn't have the money to spend on them

They are in the process of trying to sell them(in my opinion the best thing for them). When I mention the lack of toys to her she just laughs.Anyway, i have given her some perches(she only had 1 dow perch in their cage) and a ladder for them as well as some treats but everytime I see them they look so un-happpy and bored. She doesn't let them out of their cage much because of my young nephews(the birds bite).
Would anyone be willing to help me help these birds with any toys and such that they don't need?
I will try to find something to offer in return

So far all my extras have been passed to these guys......

I have an opened over half bag of Kaytee Kitchen Creations Pasta dinner with beans and Vegetables that my guys won't eat. Yes is is opened but it it dehydrated foods that will keep for a pretty long time. Use by date is 16 May 07. There is 1/2 to over 1/2 a bag left none of my guys will touch it. I can't stand the smell of it so I have no plans to try it with them again. (It doesn't smell bad, my son actually thought it was his dinner and was salavating over it.)
