thank you thank you biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I found this in our grocery store and really like it. I just add whatever veggies I have on hand (and/or frozen) and the fids love it. This has been the only cornbread mix I can find here--and it just happened to be organic! biggrin.gif

Personally, I really like their products. The 10-grain waffle mix is also a hit with the fids (on the weekends). They even have aluminum-free baking powder!

Waiting for this to come out of the oven now. Dakotah loves bread and I hope she will love this even more! Thank you for posting this.

For my birdy bread I usually take a package of corn bread mix and the following (organic if possible):

-two eggs (with pulverized shell)(calicium)
-one jar of either carrot or sweet potato babyfood (vit. a)
-One jar of chicken and rice babyfood (or anything that your bird will like with protien in it)
-add frozen veggies, fruit, seeds and pellets for taste and consistancy. I usually sprinkle seeds on top before I bake. I also add whatever I have left in the refrig if it is bird safe.

Can you freeze this?

This is what I make for my flock..I try and change it around each batch

Birdie Cornbread
2 packages Jiffy mix cornbread
4 eggs w/ crushed egg shells..I find 2 shells is plenty
2/3 cup milk..don't worry this is fine after cooking
1 cup pellets your choice
1 cup apple juice..no sugar added
1 cup frozen mixed veggies
1 cup frozen corn (sometime use Pea's instead)
Mix all ingred. bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 30 mintues give or take..just keep checking with toothpick for doneness.

I put this in a large cassarole dish and bake..let it cool completely then cut into small squares...then lay out(single layer) on a cooky sheet and freeze..after it is frozen then transfer to ziplock baggy..by doing this they won't all stick together...also you can cut this recipe in half..

I have also used applesauce instead of apple juice..if its too thick add water until right consistancy...Hope your birdies enjoy..smile.gif

When I make mine I use mini muffin tins. Perfect serving size.

wow thank ya'll for the recipes for Birdie Bread......Robbie loves it..he is enjoying a piece right now.....How often can I give him a piece of this bread? since it does have seeds..but not much just enought to decorate the top.....this really was very useful..I have some Roudybush pellets I got from a sample and Robbie would not eat them so the crushed up pellets came in good use...Thank you for the recipes
ripleyanddenise
Thank you for the recipe. I omitted the pellets and apple juice but added plenty of veggies. Ripley is still going crazy over it. Is it okay to give this to him all of the time? He really seems to like it but I don't want to give him more than he should have.

I made some bread this morning and Petey loves it! I used the Jiffy mix and added 2 eggs plus shell; plus fresh chopped green beans, banana, spinach, strawberries, and broccoli; pellets, rice, and unsweeted apple juice. I made it in a loaf pan and I chopped it up into like 25 pieces. Is it ok for him to have a little piece everyday, every other day, what do you think? Here's pics of him enjoying it!

Birdie bread sounds terrific! I don't have my babies yet, but will make some soon just to see how it turns out. I can always freeze it!
