Stacia, you have my deepest sympathies!
I, too, recently lost my first bird ever -- a Quaker, and my best friend, Peanut. He was just thirteen months old when he left us, and to this day -- nearly one month after he tragically died -- I still have difficulty looking at his photographs and videos.
True, your life might be different without Waffle. But please trust that each day will be just a bit easier to get through, and eventually, you will realize that Waffle was in your life for a very good reason. At the same time, you were in her life for a very good reason too. You know that special bond that only us Quaker people know!
And remembering that special bond, when you're ready, maybe you'll even find room in your heart and home to welcome another Quaker into your life to fill the void that Waffle left behind.

As everyone here told me: it would be a true honor to Waffle! You'd be showing Waffle that you had such a great experience, and you enjoyed her company so very much, that you'd be willing to share your life with another Quaker.
Stacia, take care of yourself. Be well, and stick around. I think you'll find, like I did, that this forum is full of great, supportive people who are willing to help you through this emotional time.
If you feel as though you might like to talk to someone individually, I invite you to send me a PM, or you can even send me an e-mail at
