I have a one bird house. I was given a beautiful Cockatiel a while back. It was in quarrantine in another part of the house away from my quaker. Lola (quaker) had a fit. She ripped her neck open and started plucking. Of course, I have to tell you; she had done the plucking and hurting herself routine before. I had to get rid of the cockatiel. If not for Lola I would have birds everywhere. I have friends who have quakers together. I don't know about putting a budgie in the same cage. I was warned not to put my cockatiel in the same cage with quaker. I was told the quaker would kill it.
Someone will be along shortly that knows more about this than I do. Good luck.

I would not put your budgie in with a quaker, sure you can have both and things may go fine, i got my qp in january and have since added 4 tiels, 2 lovies and a u2 and we don't have any problems but the first chance my qp got i'm sure he'd try to hurt one of the birds, including the cockatoo b/c he thinks he's as big as she is!!

I would keep the budgie in a room away from the Quaker and when not home keep the door to that room closed. Quakers are very jealous birds. Quakers may bite or kill other smaller &/or more docile birds such as budgies and cockatiels. My Quaker has attacked my cockatoo (very big bird) without hesitation so I would not put it past a Quaker to attack a budgie. I personally would not put them in the same room together nor would I allow them to play together on a play gym or near each others cage. Just for safety sake!

Joey my quaker parrot gets along very well with my budgies. But they are kept in the cage. He shares a bedroom with them as well, He will jump on their cage and talk to them.

I had a cockatiel and my quaker would get off of his cage and walk over to the other cage and start to attack at the cage. I was affraid that the Quaker would kill that other bird. I gave the Cockatiel to a friend and everything was fine.

Not having Jade out of quarantine yet I cant speak from experience, but I have done a lot of reading before I got Jade, and spoke to many people. They all said the same thing, that quakers can go for birds smaller (and sometimes bigger) than them given a chance. I have a lot of other birds, and although I'm hoping they will get along, I know it's highly pobable they wont.

See, my quaker, Kiwi, is scared of any bird, no matter how big or small they are. LOL. My parakeets terrorize my quaker. She'll run for cover whenever I let them out of their cage. It's a funny sight to see.
But, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Kiwi does not know she's a bird. She'll go to any human and let any human do anything to her, but, birds scare the poopy outta her.

I must be one of the luckiest birders around...my birds almost ALL get along, except for a few little spats now and then that are nothing. My QP cages with my tiel Rose, I have 2 other tiels caged with a keet, my sun is alone and the IRN is alone...but SHE'S the one that hates everybody...including me!
The QP preens the sun, the tiels preen each other, no one preens the IRN and the keet won't let me preen him.
Nala has taken off one of Emma's toes cuz she's a b*****, but she will now let the other birds come IN her cage, just not ON it. No one interacts with her too much. The others visit back and forth when the cages are open.
And NONE of these birds were raised together...all but Howie are rescues and have just had to get to know each other. I've been lucky.

OH I shuld add that when I saw my baby at the breeders, she had him on a play stand with some other birds. There were 2 hahns macaws, 2lovebirds, and 3 baby ringnecks. She told me he loves other birds. So I guess it's how well they are socialised as babies too. I know that Jade hears the other birds, and he's going mad to see them!

Just thought I would let you know... My Quaker Lola has attacked my dog. My dog, Scooter is a very large boxer. Fortunatly I was sitting right beside the dog when it happened. Fortunatly for the bird; the dog took off running.
Lola got him on the ear. Drew blood.

Poor puppy dog. He is a sweet, gentle dog. The only thing funny about it is how totally ridiculas the whole scene was.

I have a QP and 3 budgies and Huey, my QP is the boss but gets on quite well with the budgies, we just supervise them whenever they are out together as Huey can get a bit nasty and chase the budgies but they just fly away before Huey gets close to them.
In my case, i have a quaker (4 months old) since 2 weeks, and a budgie from last year... Well the other day when i got my quaker out of the cage he went directly to the budgie's cage like usual. He managed to grab the longest toe of the budie through the cage and pulled so hard he sectionned it!

. The por budgie bled quite a bit. Paco (quaker) still try to yank feathers off of him through the cage...

poor budgie

My QP n my Grey get along pretty well. They live together when they feel like it. Yoshi (QP) is a big jerk though. I wanted to get a sun and figured id bring one home for a trial run. Well, in 5 seconds the other bird was crying and Yoshi was trying to pull her feathers out! Crazy demon birdie he is....
So, no new bird for me. I'll have to wait till I get a bigger apartment so I can space out the cages more and not worry.
As long as your QP doesnt go after the new birdie right away, monitored play time should be perfectly fine. It's when you're QP is vicious from the first moment that it's a problem.

Oz will chase any bird down to bite it...but Rosie is not territorial, and she is very friendly to other birds. But then, Oz has always been an only bird until now, and Rosie came here to get away from bigger birds who attacked her. I think it largly depends on the personality and training of the individual bird. You just have to know what will or won't work with your bird. Try putting them in the same room, then in side by side cages. Soon, you will know.
My male cockatiel has a tiny zebra finch in his cage and they absolutely dote on each other...LOL
