I did have a good evening. I dressed up as a teddy bear for work (one of two people who actually dressed up) and I got some big tips! LOL AND candy! It was pretty fun. No coffee...I just took a couple of pain pills (I think I over did it tonight) and am winding down for the night. Shouldn't you be in bed Stacy? LOL
snugglbutt
Nov 1 2006, 05:46 AM
I should be...LOL. Sav-A-Pet had a transport this morning for the shelter dogs to got to Tallahassee to get spayed and neutered. They snuck Gypsy, the blue heeler I have up for adoption, onto the transport for me. So I had to meet them at 3 this morning. Katie will be getting up in about an hour to get ready for school, and then I have a job interview at 8. So I figured going back to bed would be worse then staying up. I see a nap in my plans for this afternoon though.
I bet that wa scute, you dressed up as a teddy bear to delliver pizzas. Katie would have gotten a kick out of that. She dressed up as a cheerleader and we took her on base to trick or treat. She got a decent haul, and we wore her out. She was actually begging to go to bed by 9.
I hope you get to feeling better soon. Take it easy and get some rest. I'll keep an eye on the top for ya...LOL.

Nov 1 2006, 05:48 AM
Good luck on the interview! Yeah, the kids got a kick out of the costume...but I think the parents were more impressed. And when I told them that my mom made the costume when i was in the 7th grade they had to giggle that I have been the same size since then.
What kind of job are you interviewing for?
snugglbutt
Nov 1 2006, 05:54 AM
Thanks!!! Wow...same size since 7th grade??? I think I'm the same height...but my butt sure has widened since then...
I'm interviewing for a gate guard position on the base. It's a group interview kind of thing. Everyone interested shows up the first Wednesday of the month, the guy does his talk, asks some questions, you fill out some paperwork and if they're interested, they call you back. The pay is good, 13 an hour to start (which is EXCELLENT around here), but the hours will suck at first. The first few months you're on part-time, and on call. We're not exactly sure how we're going to work the on-call thing...Tim may wait a bit longer and stay home with Katie until I get on full time and a regular schedule...I don't know. I don't really want him staying home while I'm at work all day though. He whines cause he says the fids and fur-kids all act up when I'm not home...and then I have to hear ALL about it.

Weren't you active military for a while? what did you do in the service?
snugglbutt
Nov 1 2006, 06:02 AM
Yeppers, I was active duty in the Coast Guard. I was a cook...LOL. I thought about going Army, but didn't think I wanted to play GI Jane. Now that I'm older, and I know a little bit more about the army, I think I should have went that route instead. I probably would have liked it a lot better.
Andie Wan Kenobi
Nov 1 2006, 06:05 AM
You know, with your military experience...you could get into the postal service...LOL Go Postal! LOL...sorry bad joke. BUT they have some kickin bennies. So what does the gate guard job entale (sp)?
snugglbutt
Nov 1 2006, 06:11 AM
LOL...I thought about the postal service, but this is such a rural area. You pretty much have to know someone around here to get a local position.
The gate guard job is a pretty cake job. My bird-sitter friend, Angie, is a gate guard. You work a straight 8 (although they do have one 12 hr shift), hang out at the guard shack, check ID's and write out passes to those without a military ID. She said depending on what gate you get, you could spend most of your shift sitting on your butt talking on the phone...lol. The best part....I would get to carry a gun. Muuuwaaahhhaaaaaahhhhaaaa.

Nov 1 2006, 06:19 AM
LOL...I've been eyeing a FN 9mm at Axel's shop...I really like it. Though the new HK 9mm is pretty cool. THEN there's the Roarbah(sp) now that is a nice piece! I like the 9mm (less recoil).
snugglbutt
Nov 1 2006, 06:26 AM
LMAO....I understood the 9mm part...

I hope they teach me how to shoot...last time I shot a handgun was about 9 yrs ago in Californi, right after Tim and I got married. He was teaching me how to shoot out on some private land (we had permission from the owner to be there), and someone called the police to report gunshots. Tim ended up getting arrested (about a week after we got married), and that ended the lesson...LOL. And no...he didn't get arrested because of the gun. He had an outstanding warrant from a DUI (his first and only) that he had about 4 yrs before we met. The court had lost his paperwork, and so they had it on record that he didn't pay the fine or anything. So they issued a warrant for his arrest...and they "busted" him 4 yrs later.

$800 later, him spending the night in jail, and me being a VERY big pain in the butt to a bail bondsman...it's also how I met his aunt and uncle. LOL...I needed someone to post a property bond for him, so I just started calling his relatives.

The more I shoot, the more I like it. My Uncle is a big gun collector and I shoot with him sometimes (I shot my first clays at his house and really liked it). Then I started dating Axel (owns a gun shop) and started going to the machine gun shoots and spending lots of time in his shop, i have learned a lot about guns and the laws. MOST of them are TAX laws...it is just nutty. I would totally suggest going to a firing range and taking a class, that way you get to shoot a mess of different guns and find out what you like. Glocks are good guns too, very dependable and one of the few semis that will fire when wet and dirty.
Well, either way, hopefully you get the job!
Have you looked into getting your non profit started for the dog rescue?

Nov 1 2006, 06:48 AM
I looked into it, and I discussed it with Jane, my friend with Sav-A-Pet. Then Tim and I talked about it. We decided to hold off on it for now. To be honest, Jane covers a great deal of the expenses. I spend mostly gas money and time with caring for them, and trips back and forth to the vet. Jane's awesome. Whenever one of them needs something, I just call her. She runs to the bank, tells me where to meet her, and she gives me $100. I'm kind of sort of working under Sav-A-Pet right now, as a foster home. We worked out a deal. I foster for them, and they help me out with costs for the strays that I pick up. And...she's going to help me push the town to get a shelter up and running, or at the very least animal control. She has an ally on the town council, but he's in Iraq with the army right now. As soon as he gets back, she's going to start laying plans to get a shelter here in town, with the plan that I will manage it. That's a long way off though, and a lot of things have to happen for that to work.
Time to go feed the dogs...Katie will be up in a few minutes.
