I think I'm finally ready to take the plunge and order the cages I've been wanting to order for awhile. I'm really leaning toward the 32" wide wrought iron cage with the dome top for my greys. I just have a few questions for the 'experienced users'.

1. Do you think this cage will be big enough for a CAG? Right now Ralph is in a 30 x 24 and Aries is in a 32 x 23 (he's chewed the paint off it).

2. How are they put together? Are they the kind that 'slide' together or are there bolts to hold it together?

3. How can I get replacement cups? Will stainless steel cups fit the cup holders? What size replacement cups do you use and where did you get them? I'm really fussy that I have a couple sets of dishes to swap out while the other ones are 'waiting in line' to be washed.

4. Are the holders for the cups removable? If so, what would prevent them from being tipped?

5. Is the paint smooth, like a vinyl, or is it textured? The white cages look like they are just a smooth paint, but the other colors look textured like powder coated. Aries has the kind that's painted smooth and he's stripped most of the paint off so I definately do not want that kind again. If the colored ones are different I'd be happy to go with them.

6. How easy was it to put together? Are the instructions pretty easy to follow?

7. Have you had any problems with rust or parts falling apart? What's the workmanship like?

I know it's a lot of questions, but I honestly cannot afford to buy a new cage every year, so what I buy has got to last at least 5 - 10 years.

Thanks in advance!!!!!

I have 2 cages from them - 1qp 1 tiel - I have had them both for about 9 months - the ones I have are not bolted together they are slid and kinda snapped - they were very easy to put together - did it in about 15 minutes. The food cup holders are held to the cage with bolts - I have bought replacement bowls for mine - so far no peeling paint or rust. The colors have a slight texture to them - not enough to cause problems cleaning.

You might try sending a PM to Sugarcat - Wendy has a couple of cages from them I think - she also has greys so she could advise on size better than I can.

smile.gif Well...I don't have that cage anymore, but I can tell you about it! I had the 40x30 dometop, which I purchased used w/ Rudy until I could get him a cage. The larger Demsond cages bolt together, and have nuts. It was easy enough to put together. The crock holders do not hold any of the SS dishes I have, and the crocks that came w/ that particular cage were plastic. I ended up using SmartCrocks rather than the ones that came w/ the cage as the crock holders had been squashed. It was not a smooth paint - but, it WAS seriously chipped & chewed, and rusty in the places the paint had been removed - it had been used to temporarily house a Greenwing who tried to eat his way out, then dismantled the cage.
That cage should be fine for a grey - UNLESS he likes to undo his cage. If he is a cage dismantler, go w/ one that does NOT have the nuts/bolts. HQ, Centurion, Kings all screw together, but there is no way for the bird to get at the screws from *inside* the cage.
I have my greys in 40x30's, and the new grey is in a 36x28 playtop. I think the size you are looking at would be fine smile.gif
If you need more info - let me know! smile.gif
