Oatis will be home the end of next week!!!!! I'm excited I could hardly sleep last night! BUT, I'm not ready! I thought I would have a couple more weeks.
So, I have to decide on a cage ASAP and get it ordered!

The white one:
*32 x 20 x36"H with an overall height of 54" or is this going to be too big?

* 1/2" bar spacing

I got to thinking which is my down fall rolleyes.gif At any rate...Oatis will be in the cage for
several hours on days I have to work. I plan to have breakfast with him and play a little while then he will be in his cage until I get home. So I thought perhaps an even bigger cage might be better. What do you think?

The black one:
* 24 x 22 x 34"H with an overall height of 66"

* 3/4" bar spacing (bar spacing going to be a problem?)

I would go with the white one....NO CAGE IS TOO BIG!! You get to fill it with fun things...LOL and the bar spacing is just right.

mY CAGE IS THE SIZE OF THE LARGER ONE AND sTENDECK USES IT ALL WITH FUN AND GAMES.

I was thinking that the black cage would be good because of the seed guard because the white one doesn't have one, but I thought 3/4" bar spacing was not good.??
Jamie
I'd say the larger one - then you could a big boing in the middle of it! You could fit lots of really cool perches in lots of different materials and of course, plenty of toys too. Will that big cage fit in your office?

The seed guard is nice but I honestly don't notice a whole lot of difference in terms of mess between the cage I have with a seed guard and the cage I have without one. If nothing else there is probably some sort of commercial after market seed guard you could purchase for the larger cage if you really wanted one. Or make your own using the weaving technique listed in the shredder toys thread! It's a seed guard, it's a toy, it's a multi-function bird extravaganza!!!!

Go with the white one. The wider the cage the better than the taller ones.

My vote is the white one too...And we'll be waiting for pictures.....Next week end will be here before you know...Hurry hurry and get that cage.....

Congratulations.....
Dee
My preferences in cages is a playtop and seed guard .. I noticed a major difference with mess when I had taken the seed guard off .. but then again that was because they were on their playtops .. biggrin.gif

So I would get the black one but in the size of the white one with the 5/8" bar spacing ... laugh.gif

That was a lot of help eh? huh.gif

I'd go with the white one...Wider is better than taller...However...One thing that people have been overlooking...Do these cages have horizontal as well as vertical bars? Horizontal bars are important features in a cage because it helps them climb easier. I'm told, rule of thumbe a good cage has 1/2 vertical, 1/2 horizontal...Now how about let's debating that....

Yes, it has both biggrin.gif

I really did looked for the size of the white one with the features of the black one smile.gif no luck

Thanks everyone for your advice. Oatis ETA Oct 13th. It was going to be the end of this week BUT I have a bunch of family stuff going on this weekend and the breeder thought it would be better to pick up Oatis the next weekend so we could have a calmer transition.
Darn family obligations! rolleyes.gif

The benifit of waiting is I have time to make a few more toys and get the house birdy proofed and have his cages all set up...phew!

I have one cage that doesnt have the horizontal bars on 2 sides like recommended. All others are half and half..but ya know, i cant tell that the birds climb any better in one than the other. In fact other than than one thing,that is the cage i like the best so i guess since its not a prob then its my fav cage.
