Do most Quakers like sleepy huts? My bird is especially hard to adapt to new things. He had a swing in his cage for a month and never went near it. But he absolutely loved the newspaper octupus I made him. I'm thinking of getting a sleepy hut for him, but I don't want to waste my time. Any advice out there on those for finicky birds?

Some birds like them and some hate them! Joey used to hate them and not he loves them so much I bought a sewing machime to make them!

I agree with Rose .. Some love them and others don't!

Sméagol sleeps in his every night! When I first introduced him to it he didn't use it. My breeder and members of this forum suggested to place it at the highest point possible in his cage. My breeder also mentioned to have a perch on both sides so he can get in and out from either side.

The minute I made those changes he was in it in a second!

Yep it just depends on the fid! My qp Peanut went to his right away and now must have it at all times or he throws the biggest hissy fit. I dunno why he does this but it seems to be his preference to have one side hanging and the other side down. I used to think he was just playing and he'd take it off the quicklink well after putting it back up a zillion times he has decided to chew threw the loop so that it can't be hung back up. Did this twice this week so I've just decided he likes it this way.....funny birds

Rose, those pics of Joey are so cute! What do you use in the bottom to keep it flat?

Gabby loves his happy hut. He has slept in it and took naps in it from day one.

Its just a hard piece of plastic, into a dollar store hand face cloth so you can take the insert out and wash it. I made some more tonight will post more paitures this weekend. Thanks Joey seems to like them!

They are not too expensive I would give it a go as most quakers love to sleep in something as they do in the wild...my boys sleep in a nesting box on a nice lambs wool mat..

I know my Kiwi does not take kindly to new things......but I would get one and go from there. He might surprise you and like it.

I bought a sleepy hut for my bird before I bought her home. She has never slept in it, but last night she slept in for the first time, and I was so happy. I guess since the temp changed, she has to keep warm. Good luck

I agree with Majj - they aren't too expensive so it might be worth a try to get one and let your own QP decide how hw feels about it.

I've tried and tried to get her to use one. Tried different colours, styles. She just doesn't like them!!

I kinda make a tent out of her cage cover. She loves to go under there and 'hide', but she just doesn't like anything like that inside her cage.

My Conures, on the other hand, love their sleep hut.

Well, I got one from Brook and Meeka hated it! She would sit in it when I put her in it. She looked so cute but it did'nt last long she would climb right out of it and pick at it.
