Well I finally took Sandi's advice ... Thanks Sandi! biggrin.gif

Sméagol was in need of a few sleepy huts so I made him a couple today! I also took Sandi's advice and made a sheet to cover an insert. That way in the mornings I just have to change his sheet instead of replace the entire hut ... I think my huts will last longer also because I won't need to wash them every other day! biggrin.gif

Sleepy Hut - With Insert covered with sheet
I still put a plastic bottom inside the lining of the hut for the floor and also have the plastic insert with a sheet covering it placed inside.

Front of Sheet

Back of Sheet - To remove insert ..

Thanks again Sandi for the wonderful idea! biggrin.gif

Thanks for the credit, BUT......Darn I can't take all of the credit. I was trying to think who suggested it. PLEASE COME FORWARD! It might of been Gail, Judi, can't member...LOL I use costco wash cloths because you can buy them in bunches and they bleach out nicely. After paying some $13.00 a pop for sleepy huts in the pet stores, enough was enough and besides Mr. Kiwi chewed on the loops and I had to keep sewing them up and yep he kept right on chewing. And also I would have to wash the whole thing. I know I posted before the sleepy huts that my daughter made and they are over a year old and are still in one piece. I put cardboard in the bottom of Kiwi's hut and lay the wash cloth on top. He doesn't ever bother the cardboard.

See, us Forum Members are the best......we all have such creative ideas and suggestions...

Thanks .. Yes Sméagol does like them .. I purchased quite a bit of parrot type material from Wal Mart last year so he is used to the design.

I'm now getting ready to make some Christmas sleepy huts ... laugh.gif Going shopping for Christmas material ...

For Joey's inserts I use a face cloth that they sell at my local dollar store that has an opening at the bottom that your hand can go in and I put the piece of plastic in that! biggrin.gif
