I saw this toy on Ebay and was wondering what all you QP experts think.
Ebay Birdie Binky
Is the fleece really safe? Would this be something they might like to cuddle in to sleep? What do you suppose is on the inside to make it keep it's shape?
Thanks. I will be getting my new baby in a couple weeks when he is weaned. I want to make sure I have plenty of toys ready.

I'll bet he'd love it!! Looks snuggly...heck I'd use it if I were a birdie!! tongue.gif

Yes, the fleece should be perfectly safe, and very cuddly. On the inside is probably rope, or maybe even pvc or some sort of vine/wood ring. To sleep, tho, you may try the happy hut, aka birdie bunker, it's a triangle, so they don't sleep perched, but with flat feet, and it's also made out of fleece or sheepswool. Not to say that you shouldn't get the toy. However, quite honestly, you could probably make the same thing cheaper, if you feel creative at all!!!

Thanks. I've seen the happy hut pictured on this site and figured I could make one of those.
Just seeing the fleece poking out like that cries "grab me" to me. I want to make sure everything is safe for my new guy. Zeke is a cuddler, I can't wait.
I will definately be able to make one of those binky things in the picture, we have tons of fleece here. Just trying to figure out what to attatch it to. cool.gif

You could use plastic embroidery hoop like My Ellie said a rope or grapevine. I'm planning to make one myself. I was going to use a rope with a SS wire inside...I think that will work well then It can be washed easily.

I make my own, the Tiels love them but the Quakers could care less...lol

This site is great! Everyone has such great information. I have one more question about the happy hut. Could someone let me know the dimentions? I want Zeke to be comfortable when he comes home so I want to get it right.
Thanks.

Alot of times, at the stores, there are pictures of birds on the happy hut labels, usually a good sized one for quakers would be one with a cockatiel photo on it. There may even be a list of bird sizes on it, and sometimes quaker is listed. Otherwise, if there is no photo/list, you hsould probably try a medium or large, depending on the maker. Around 4.5 x 7.5 x 5.5 inch or 5 x 7 x 10 inch orso would be good.
