My little blue quaker, Spensir, was killed by my ekkie today. I can't even figure out how they ended up together but they did and now my blue baby is gone. I held him as he took his last breathe. I feel so heartbroken and absolutely sick.... No more fids for me.

Oh No!! Cheryl, I am so very sorry. You must be so heartbroken to have lost Spensir.
Cherish your memories of him, he was loved by you very much and know that he knows that.
My heart goes out to you.

Oh I am so very very sorry you had to go thru this.
I know you feel terrible but sometimes things just happen for no reason and I think that makes it worse.
I guess what I am trying to say is that accidents happen and I hope you can recover from this terrible loss.

Oh Cheryl...I feel so bad for you...It was a tragic accident and they happen, no matter how careful you are.
You may or may not remember but Andie also lost her little blue Quaker Azul to a bigger bird...a Severe Macaw. It only takes the blink of an eye and they're gone. Don't beat yourself up over it sweetie. It was an accident. All you can do is learn from it and move on. Don't give up on birds just because of this one accident. Take time to mourn and then reconsider....My heart goes out to you...I've been there too.

I am very sorry to hear about Spensir, and I hope that your Ekkie is also ok, accidents will happen no matter how careful we are, and your ekkie would of not known the consiquences of his actions, don't give up birds... he still needs you. Take care.

As my mom said, I lost my blue quaker Azul to an accident with my Severe. I was sooo upset and I still miss the baby...but accidents happen, and please do not beat yourself up. It will get better with time, and you may find room in your heart for another fid, later on down the road. I know that Sammie, the Severe, mourned Azul's death for several days. Your Ekkie may do the same thing, so keep an eye on him.
May your little fid be at peace and warm your heart with memories.
Hugs!

Really sorry for you losing him. Please take care. May he be at peace, flying carefree now.
So sorry for your loss. I understand it must be amazingly hard, but think of the good times, don't let go of birds, they are far to great for that.

Thank you so much everyone for your support

I really appreciate it through this difficult time. Even though I am quakerless I hope you don't mind if I stick around for a while. My ekkie is way too bird aggressive to ever think about adding another one and that breaks my heart. We also have a GCC and a cockatiel that he would kill if the opportunity would arise. I have to be extremely careful. Somehow Spensir got himself out of his cage

I am just heartsick.....
I'm know things happen and the ekkie was just acting on instinct but it's hard to look at him the same way. Everyone else in the family wants him out of here. I'm going to give it some time before I decide to rehome.
Thanks again for your support

Sorry I missed this thread. I've been avoiding this section lately with our Boo missing. Sorry to hear about the accident. Thats what it was, an accident. No fault or blame.
I hope you can find away to deal with your Ekkie that works for everyone.

just getting to this forum.. and sick over the recent losses. i know how heartsick you must feel.. and how easy it is to think of the what if.. and if only's. but as mentioned.. things simply just happen.. and so fast. i know, i too have a very very bird agressive fid.. my grey stevie. and in one moment he almost got my qp romeo. i was even standing right there in the room.. in seconds he was on top of romeo, and was wrapping his beak around his neck. i was so fortunate to be close enough to scare him off before anything happened. but it spooked me hard, and my romeo too. of course now they are never out together.. BUT.. romeo has gotten out of his cage before.. while stevie was out.. fortunatley stevie didnt see him before i did.
my forever long "spew" is just to say.. this happens.. ben is not a bad bird for it.. you are not a bad parront for it. its just the way birds are.... even in nature. please stick around here... we all care

Im so sorry youve experienced the tragic loss of your little Spinsir

I understand the change in the feelings you have for the other feathered baby and I dont even want to think of what decision Id make under the circumstances. But please know that he was and still is one of your loves in life and was only acting on instincts as has been said. Take your time and dont make a decision when youre overwhelmed by all the emotions surrounding the loss. Whatever you decide will be the right thing for him and your family! My thoughts and prayers are with you
