Only 6 years. Thats all the time you had. It was enough time to get you in a good home, get you cleaned up, and teach you how to be a respectable house cat.
I nicknamed you Boo Boo Monkey Tail because of the way your tail curled up when I touched you. You could be such a terror sometimes but that only endeared you to me more.
Remember the time you were digging in the cactus in the living room and knocked it over? I came out to find out what the noise was and stubbed my toe on a spike and had to go to the Dr. to get it removed. Very funny.
You were such a good hunter too. Always bringing me home little presents. The usual birds and mice, but why did you have to hunt worms? Thats just silly.
I remember putting you out at 9pm. It was dark, but you really wanted to go out. You should have stayed in Boo.
I'll forgive myself eventually.
Absolutely the silliest cat I ever met.
I'll miss you forever Boo.

I'm really sorry about your little Boo. I had to put my favorite dog to sleep in June and just had my baby quaker killed a couple nights ago. I know how you feel.... Lots of thoughts and hugs coming your way.
Just want to add: We had one of our cats missing for a couple months. We searched hi & low, hung posters, went door to door and finally gave up. One day I looked out the sliding glass door and there she was playing with a bug in the neighbors yard. I have no idea where she had been all that time...... But, she was obviously not in any hurry to get home!!!

Thanks for the warm wishes all.
Y'know I mentioned this to Steph in a PM, but this is nowhere near as hard as the last time I "lost" a cat.
My manx Snurfl died a few years back. She had terminal kidney disease. I watched her get weaker and weaker, and when the time came I had to hold her head as the vet gave her the injection. That totally wrecked me for weeks. Having to look into those eyes as the life left them.
In this case I can delude myself into believing that Boo wandered off and found a nice neighbour who took her in as a stray and is giving her a wonderful new home.

I had to do this 4 years ago, and when I think about my Whiskers....i still cry. It was so heartwrenching and I was hysterical. And I really mean hysterical. I cried myself to sleep for the next 4 nites.
My mom just put down one of hers Monday and she was crying, I was crying and heck, my step-dad was crying.
It is devestating when they go, and your heart breaks a little..heck a lot every time.
But it mends, slowly but surely.
A patch here, a patch there.
I like to think us animals lovers have hearts like a homemade quilt. Patched together with love and memories of all of our fids.

Ron, I am so sorry. Losing a pet is so hard. I lost my cat when I was about 16. I had let him out during the day, and they always came in at night. This particular night, he was at my bedroom window asking to come in, but being a stupid teenager, I was "to busy" doing something else. About 30 minutes later, when I was ready for him, I couldn't find him. I went out searching, and I found his body in the street. He had been hit by a car, and his body was still warm. Had I not been so lazy and let him in when he asked, he might still be alive today. He was only a yr old. I have never quite forgiven myself for that.
Another of my cats, Misty, has been missing for almost a yr now. Our neighbors here were fostering her and our cat Boo-bear while we were getting settled after Katrina. I had told them she was an indoor cat, hadn't been outside in years and was declawed. They let her out anyway. She went out one time, and no one has seen her since. I, like you, tell myself that someone took her in as a stray. She was absolutely gorgeous, a siamese/blue russian mix with the biggest blue eyes. To this day, I still look for her, in the hopes she will come back to us one day.
