What would be the smallest cage size you guys would recommend for two QP to share? I hate Syd's current cage and since my two get along so well I was thinking of getting a larger cage they could share (I would keep Gremlin's current cage up in case someone needed some time away biggrin.gif )

I am planning on getting a new cage for Syd but I'd rather spend a little bit more and get a larger one that they can both live in instead of spending the money on a smaller one now and then deciding later I want a larger one.

Would one this size work or do you recommend larger?

It's hard to find them much larger with the bar spacing of 3/4" or less, unless I go custom and I really don't have the funds for that.

Opinions?

Thanks.

I wouldnt recommend letting them share a cage... at all.. only because they will bond to each other more and you will most likely lose your pets.. but if you have too I would say the larger the better.

If you spend time with your fids everyday they won`t shut you out you are all flock members ..My boys love each other sleep together share their cages ( I had them in seperate cages and they want to be together so I pushed their cages together and they hope in and out of both cages via the nesting box hole BUT they choose to be together to sleep.. wub.gif Double trouble but are always busting to get out and be with me the minute I am up..Of course if you neglect them and don`t spend time with them they will cling to each other and exclude you ...
How do your Q.P act towards you they are housed together right ..??
I would get as big as cage as I could , if you have them out most of the day the size shown would be o.k but if they are in it most of the day I would try for larger...
Goodluck...
Oh yes don`t for get Quarentine for at least a month and vet check any new fid ....
Have a nice day ...

Just wondering if you are planning on still caging them together now that you know they are a male and female?

Probably not. Especially since Gremlin bit one of Syd's toes off this afternoon. Oy. She's fine, and $105 later she has pain meds, a cauterized toe and antibiotics. I left them alone for 15 minutes and they were both in Syd's cage with the door open. I didn't see Gremlin do it, so I thought Syd must have gotten her toe caught somewhere and chewed it off to get loose, but the doc said it looked like it was a clean bite, so I am thinking it had to be Gremlin.

They are housed separately right now, but talking to each other through the cage and I will allow them to be together again but watch them carefully. Sheese, these birds are like children dry.gif

Poor Syd, but she is ok. The vet said it happens pretty frequently actually.

Yeah, he took off pretty much her entire toe. It's a back one, and she's using the foot just fine. She's just a 3-toed QP now mellow.gif

She's on antibiotics for another few days but it seems to be healing well. I take her back on Tuesday for a recheck.
