This is how I spent my sunday afternoon...making a new hangout for Ekko! He is still afraid of it but hopefully in a few days he'll be ready to give it a try.

Im with the rest on questions! What do the ties hold together? Suki would have each one of those off in an hour LOL!

I can't take any credit for this project....I came across a larger version of this on another site, so I tried downsizing it to a more appropiate quaker size. Its hula hoops wrapped in vet wrap, screwed into 1/2 inch 4-way pvc connectors. I can't give specific directions because I never measure anything...(this drives my ~Measure twice, cut once~ husband crazy!!) I spent alot of time screwing and unscrewing because of that tho. It would have been easier if i had measured instead of guesstimating!

The link to the original directions I found is

Have fun!

Click to view attachmentLet me try Ropes for 200 Alex..

I love the design. I'm looking for a simple "playstation" concept that Maxxx can fly to when we're playing. I'm tempted to utilize the same 3 braid rope (with a coat hanger core)and connect the rings with splices and create fluffs for him to play with... Check out <Link To Animation> to see what I mean.

I've used the cotton based rope in the past, but may experiment with a playstation made from hemp to see what he (Maxxx) thinks about the material.

I do believe in doing the measure twice and cut once, but will probably experiment with this to see how the rope reacts.

I'll take pictures and publish if it works out.

Fair winds 'til then...

Wow---Very professional work indeed....And yes, quakers are scared of new things but given time, he'll come around...I tried changing Harley's birdie tent in his cage and did it one night while he was asleep in his room...It gives me time to clean his cage good...I replaced his old birdie tent which needed washing with the a new one and man, that is the first thing he noticed the next morning...He would not go near it, so I took it out and slipped it thru the cage bars for a couple of days and let him look at it. Now it is in his cage and he thinks nothing of it...silly bird.......So you are doing right, just let it hang and you may want to go up to it like you are playing with it which may entice birdie a little....

Thanks everyone!
I've been putting it on the bed when I play with Ekko there...he has gotten brave enough to pull on a piece of leather I hung from it and sit beside it for a couple of minutes at a time. One day soon I hope to post a picture of him ON IT!!! biggrin.gif
