I don't know what they got, but I lost Both my birds one yesterday and one this morning.
I'm so down and out.
One was a Quaker and the other was a Cockatiel.

I'm not to happy, I had just got my Quaker to start healing from chewing on himself, he was starting ti grow some feathers in the chewed area, the wierd thing is I have been taking the birds out every evening and playing with them they were fine yesterday when I got home the quaker was dead in the cage, and when I woke up this morning the other one was in the bottom of his cage not doing good so I ran to the vet and he died there.
Not a good morning.

Once again I am sorry. Did the vet have any ideas? Were both birds bought together? If they weren't, were they quarantined from one another? Did you get vet check ups for them when you first bought them?
I can only imagine how you feel.

did the vet give you any theorys as to what might of caused their sudden deaths? Since they both died within a short time span of each other I would be concerned especially if they seemed fine the night before. I know in my area carbon monoxide can be a big issue as winter rolls around and windows are left closed and the heat is put on. Which if you dont have a detector maybe get one.

That's so sad, I'm sorry for your loss and sending the biggst ((((HUG))) your way.
Since they both died so close together, did you ask the vet to do a necropsy? (autopsy for birds) A little pricey but its worth it if it give you peace of mind.
Again...sorry for your loss.........and another BIG ((((((HUG))))))

So sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to find out what happened so you will have a little peace of mind. It's devastating to lose something you love... and to not know why is terribly difficult.

I have had the Quaker for about 2 years, The Tiel about 2 months, I had brought them in about 3 weeks ago for check ups and wing clipping and everything was fine. the vet said that with how fast they died she doubts that they will find the reason if I send them off. She said to clean the cages with Bleach, soap and water and clean the area in the house real good and let the cages sit outside for a few days so they will be free of what ever it was before I use them again.

I'm very sorry your babies are gone. It sounds like a toxin to me, probably PTFE, commonly called Teflon, which is Dupont's registered trademark for the non-stick chemical compound. But it could have been another powerful toxin:
http://www.landofvos.com/articles/safety.htmlI'm guessing your vet didn't do a necropsy exam. That doesn't involve sending slides away for more detailed examination, but often reveals the cause of death. If it were PTFE poisoning, there would have been telltale hemorrhaging from multiple organs. One of my vets does necropsy exams at no charge because she wants to know what killed her patients. Other vets charge about $50 and can return the bird's body for burial, which I always want for my babies.
Very, very sad for the poor birds . . . and for you.

So sorry to hear you lost not just one but two birds so quickly. I would also lean to some kind of airbourne toxin.
No way to know for sure without a necropsy.
I do feel so badly for you. I hope you pain eases quickly.

That doesn't seem right to me. They died for some reason, and it's too much of a coincidence for it to be not the same reason. I would think that the necropsy would show that reason.
She did give you excellent advice about the cages and the house though.
I am sorry that you've suffered such a tragic loss. It's horrible to lose one beloved pet, but to lose more than one is simply heart-wrenching.

Sorry to hear about your birds... and I agree with the others loosing 2 birds so quickly is a worry and I would try to think back on everything you have done in the last day or two,ie: cleaning product, teflon, sprays, candles etc used in the house, before getting any more birds. Once again I am very sorry it must of been devestating.

Possible answer.
A loss of shipmates is always hard. I was searching one of the other sites and found some hints on avian diseases.
Check out:
http://parrottalk.com/parrot-diseases.htm for descriptions on several gotchas that we should avoid.
I dislike having to learn by loss....with our sympathy.
