Don't feel bad, it does happen. As long as the bleeding has stopped he'll be OK. He might favor that foot for a day or so but likely won't chew on it.

Don't beat yourself up over this, it happens even to the experts, my vet did it to Quincy the last time I took him in.

He chould chew at his toe for a little bit but usually they don't bother it. Just keep an eye on it now that the bleeding is stopped he should be just fine.

I agree... as you all know.. Jade bite my tiels toe off and he came out of it just fine.. he did loose a toenail over it tho.. but it doesnt affect him in any way... someone on the forum told me to feed him millet.. helps build up the blood..

Yep, if Cheeky likes millet, give him a bit of it, if he doesn't, then some seed will do.

It does happen, that's why it's important to be prepared, like you were. Having flour, or cornstarch on hand while clipping nails/wings is a must.

I think you've handled this very well smile.gif

Handled it with alot of tears! Oh little things sure do hurt with our birds. Thank God for this forum and everyone of you so many have been helped by you. Thank you so much wub.gif

Hes fine right now on hubbys shoulder and nails are ok after the flour! I was worried about the chewing on his feet ...big sigh* of relief!

Depending on how short you clipped it, he probably didn't feel any pain. When I do nail clippings for DNA purposes, none of my birds act like they are in pain. They don't even squeek when I trim the nail a touch too short to get the blood.
