Winter - I like the cold - No mosquito's and I can sleep a lot better! Although I have to add that South African winters are not that cold - average winter temperature here is about 17 or 18 degrees C...

8th grade ... 'that time' started unbeknownst to me, and when I got up (wearing a light blue skirt) there was blood everywhere!

I was mortified!! 8th grade, in front of all the BOYS in the class, as well as the girls!! I wanted to just crawl away and never come back! Never forgot it (obviously) and it still makes me shudder to think of it......

Mallorca, Spain. Only place I've ever really been on a vacation. Sad isn't it.

Yes definately - I live in South Africa......

More than likely. My parents have been on at me for years to move to Australia, but I still have a dream to return to a peaceful, stable, prosperous country in Southern Africa. That rules out Zimbabwe, then! Maybe Botswana or SA.

No. Economic growth is the benchmark by which successive British government measure their performance, but not hought is given to the happiness of the people! Whereas we may be one of the most affluent countries in the world, a recent survey suggested that British kids are among the most miserable on the planet!

Whats the largest bird you've ever handled.

I did a bit of falconry when I still lived in Rhodesia. I flew a lanner falcon, but occasionally helped my mentor with his bateleur eagle.

How old were you when you got your first bird?

Not till I was about 40 (I think) Got a little budgie from the local grocery and he just stole my heart........from there I went to a tiel from a breeder, then two tiels, then NO birds for awhile, but found I really NEEDED to have birds in my life......so back to a tiel, then two, then a budgie and tiels, then the QPs and other 'throwaway' birds came my way .........now I have 8 fids, most are ok, one BITES and plucks, and I am looking for #9 (a caique) but don't really have the room.....will MAKE room for a nice little caique, tho

No - But I was in the paper a couple of times - somewhere in the middle - once for a poem I wrote my mom for mothersday - entitled MY LITTLE MOM - and once for winning a swimming competition.

Has your quaker ever caused you any embaressing moments in front of strangers?

Kind of....when the cable guy came to connnect my Digital Cable lines, Isis sat on his cage and kept saying Hi Baby Hi Baby Hi baby ... now Isis isn't used to other people in my house and usually screams his head off when someone comes in, especially strangers, but he sure liked Chris the cable guy ... course Chris WAS a cutie newly unattached, and VERY nice , problem was I have KIDS older than him ... Darn But believe me, I thought about asking him for dinner ... lol


What is the worst job you have ever had?

When I was 18, Rhodesia had just become Zimbabwe, but they hadn't quite got round to abolishing National Service. My father refused to let me join the 'enemy army', so he shipped me off to the UK. Some friends of ours that we had known from some years before when we lived in Zambia ran a plastic recycling business in Bradford, so I got a job with them. I started at 11pm and spent the next 8 hours scraping sheep sh1t and tufts of old smelly wool off the plastic sheeting that had wrapped newly shorn fleeces to send them off for processing, and shove it all into a baler. It kept the wolf from the door...

What's the best job you ever had?

It probably wasnt the best paying job but the most fun job I ever had was working as a photographer and photofinisher at a photo studio during my college years. The hours were flexable and it wasnt hard work and it was alot better than what everyone else was doing ie flipping burgers.


If you could change something about yourself what would it be?

Besides the obvious weight issue that most women have ... it would be my procrastination habit ... I usually run late to everything (usually only 5 or 10 minutes) because I am always putting off till the last minute the things that HAVE to get done ... and yet when I went on vacation, I planned almost everything over a 6 month period .... go figure


If money were no object, what one thing would you buy that you can't afford now??

hrmmmm I would get a lamborgini diablo I just cant justify buying one now as its cost is equivelant to a house!

they are all beautiful but I like the royal variety because they are tiny.
