It has been a while since I have been on here, but now I really am in need of advice. Today my Ixkin decided to fly, and of course I have an appointment to get wings clipped tomorrow, but as she flew she hit a door. She is missing feathers on her head now. After a couple of hours she seemed better and is eating and talking and climbing on her perches. I just wanted to know if there is anything I should watch for, because this is my first bird. I would appreciate any advice.

I don't have a real good answer to that...But are you having her wings clipped by a vet? If so I would make sure that you let him know that she had the accident...and he might want to check her out a little closer.

I agree with Connie about the vet checking her. Just keep an eye on her and her behavior. I hope everything is okay.

Yes you are lucky she should be o.k ..It takes a bit out of them and they are usually in shock the best thing to do is (if that happens anyone ) keep them quite and warm...
Glad she is o.k silly littl fid give her big hugs and good luck with the wing clip...

I too hope the wings will be clipped by an avian vet who will check her out...Hope to hear something today...

How is she doing after he little accident?

Ixkin's wing are now clipped and she is doing fine. I am so glad because I was really worried. She still has a bald spot on her head but time will take care of that. Thanks for all your advice.

That is great to hear...Thank you for the follow-up......

My sister's senegal flew into the glass door several months ago and knocked quite a few feathers out of his head also. She of course was concerned about him, but watched him closely for awhile and he was okay.....I know they can break their little necks like that.....We then got his wings clipped....

Glad the wing clipping went well and that he is going to be alright.....
