Hello~

I thought I would finally introduce myself, I've been reading the posts over the last few days and I am so impressed with the amount of knowledge you all have. What a great resource! My husband and I are pet lovers, we have 2 dogs (collie & Bichon) a cat and are awaiting the arrival of our first Quaker (blue). I am so thrilled, our cage arrived yesterday and we set that up with much anticipation. Our Quaker is still being hand fed and will not be ready until sometime in April. I am so anxious and reading your posts makes it even that more exciting. I am not new to birds, I had an English Parkakeet for 10 years he was AWESOME and so much part of the family. We had a love bird that was hand fed and was originally my bird until one day she turned on me, she was so hateful to me I couldn't go anywhere near her. But I still cared for her until she passed 3 years ago. We are now ready to bring a Quaker into our home. I am truly excited and have been doing so much research so I can be as prepared as possible. So, thank you all for some wonderful ideas and advice.

Welcome! You are going to love your new baby... never a dull moment, that's for sure.
Check out some of the talented talkers on the video page! That got me hooked! I would laugh myself silly.
But talking is only a tiny peice of the Quaker picture. They are... well... quite a lot of fun!

Hey there, welcome to the Zoo...you're going to love living here.

Best advise I can give you with your Quaker and you may have read this before on here, but...Only spend as much time starting out with your new baby as you plan to be able to spend with it on a daily basis for the next 20-30 years. Teach it to play with toys and give it lots of foraging toys as well and destroyable ones so that it learns to entertain itself. This will reduce the risk of it becoming so bonded to you that you can't get out of its sight with out it screaming like crazy doing its flock call. Ask your breeder to wean him onto pellets if she hasn't already started so that he will be used to eating a healthy diet. And then just enjoy your little blue ball of fluff!
