I have a female parakeet, a male parakeet (who are both around 2 years old) and a 2.5 month old baby QP that I've had home for a whopping 6 days!

I've read that you should keep the parakeets away from the quaker because the quaker can be aggressive towards smaller birds.

My female parakeet is in LOVE with my quaker. My keets aren't trained and are usually scared of everything but when I put Cricket on the playgym by the keets cage Tierney literally hangs on the bars of the cage and tries to get as close as she can to Cricket. She wants nothing to do with the male keet... ever.

My question is... can i have Cricket and Tierney outside of their cages together if I'm supervising? Cricket is still a baby so would he be aggressive already?

Let me know your thoughts!

You can try it smile.gif Make sure you are supervising, don't leave them alone for a second.

When I first brought my Quaker home, she was fine with my Cockatiel....for the first few months. Then my Q began to get very aggressive towards the tiel and they weren't allowed to interact at all anymore. Still, to this day, my Q won't allow any of the other birds to get near her or she will attack them.

So be aware of that. If they get along fine now, it may change in the next year or so.

Good luck!!

Huey and my budgies are great friends. I think as long as you supervise them at all times and the smaller birds can fly so that they can get away quickly they will be fine. Do be careful of toes as Huey has bitten his little friends toes on a few occasions and they could easily lose a toe. As long as great care is taken and you know the quaker will always be the boss the smaller birds will get to know how close they can get.

I had the same scenario as Carrie~Anne. I had a cockateil when I first brought Kiwi, my quaker home.....I didn't ever let them intereact with each other....I was worred that Kiwi, my quaker would do something. That was years ago and now I think the quaker and cockateil would of been ok together.... but that is just my opinion
