Frankie's Mom
Okay, as a relatively new bird owner I knew there would be challenges and questions that would arise. I have been VERY fortunate so far with Frankie and Isabelle that they are well behaved, smart, curious and cuddly little q's.

What the hell happened to Frankie this week?!! I have been reading everyone's posts about "springtime" and the "terrible two's" and even about what to expect when adding a new fid. GEEZ ... are all three of these things hitting us at once?!! rolleyes.gif

Frankie has been an absolute terror! He yells at me and tells me "NO" whenever he is asked to step up or do something (though he will generally step up), he has been beaking and biting, he refuses to go to his own play gym and screams bloody murder until he is picked back up because he wants to go to Isabelle's play gym ... and he will only take her nutriberries!

I am hoping this is just the frustration of springtime for him and that it will pass ... SOON! Any suggestions on what I can do to help make him more manageable in the meantime? He is being a complete smarty pants and very mean!

You just need an awful lot of patience and it will pass. My quaker is getting better now so his time has passed for this year at least.

For mine I decided to quit fighting and let him have his girlfriend in the cage (a hanging bell toy) and just ignored his randy-ness. When I wanted to handle him I would wait for him to come out of his cage and then take him away from the cage to the other room so he would have nothing to protect etc. Now he is pretty much back to his old self and his desire to mate has stopped so it too shall pass for you as well.

im fixing to go pick up my little guy on sunday....
should i be scared and worried...?
it would suck for "springtime" and the terrible twos to happen in the first few days that i have him.. but hes only going to be 2 months old... surely no terrible 2's yet, right?

Shamrock is that way now also, I can't even move anything in his cage if he is near by, because he will attack my hand with hard bites.

He will be fine at that age it's when they get a little older that they can change in the spring time.

Aroot, I don't think you have anything to worry about like this with a youngster. It is my understanding (and please correct me if I am wrong!) that this type of behavior happens once the birdies are sexually mature.

Thanks for the input ... I just sincerely hope he stops biting me soon! mad.gif I can't help but miss the love and cuddles he was so gracious to share before!

Now my concerns are having 2 fids in the "terrible two's" and making certain peace is maintained in the house with the addition of the new fiddie.
