I picked up our new blue quaker yesterday. After much thought I decided to buy a blue and actually found some at the same pet shop where I brought Gizmo. That was January and I have been visiting it at the pet shop weekly and paying it off. Finally pick up day arrived, what a day! I am calling it it as it hasn't been DNA sexed and at the pet shop I actually thought it was a boy. However now it is home I am sure it is a girl and have called her Angel. She is 6 months old and a real baby. I got Gizmo when he was 18 months old and missed his babyhood so this is so new and delightful. She is so soft and affectionate and very cute. Gizmo is fine doing the dominant male thing, more alert and is climbing off his cage a lot more. I have included a picture of Angel and Gizmo, couldn't leave him out. He is much bigger than her at the moment.
I Goofed new to this photo stuff. Here is Angel

Congrats on your new BQ. I too just got a baby yesterday, about 11 weeks old. I'd had another one that I was visiting at the bird store since the end of January. I just got her home last Friday and she passed away on me Monday night. Talk about a heartbreak. I was devastated. She had bonded to me so quickly I was amazed. She was just a little over nine weeks old. The bird store was very understanding. They said they would replace her but since they didn't have any new BQ's in I was going to have to wait a while. I didn't really want to go through that wait again, so they kindly refunded me. I found a local breeder that had a couple ready to go so I have a new baby, same name, Skye, and although only a couple of weeks older, she seems to be so much more mature and developed. I guess I kept the same name first of all because I really liked it, plus it would also always be a reminder of the little one that I had too short of a time with.
This is my first experience with a Quaker. My other birds are/have been a Meyers and an Umbrella Cockatoo. The Quakers seem to be so comical and make some of the darndest sounds. My new baby makes a sound that reminds me of a squeeky toy and when she really gets going she sounds like a monkey shrieking in the jungle. As soon as she gets a little more comfortable with her surroundings I'll get a photo posted.
Again, congratulations on your new blue.
