She has not touched her food expect for nutriberries. I normally give them a couple a day. Since that is all she is eating I am keeping her some in the cage. She has probably ate about 3 or 4 of them today but that is it. Definately, not the Jill that normally eats pretty good. I am worry and don't know what to do. She is still diligently sitting on the eggs. How can I entice her to eat.

She is not a pet and would rather me not be around. It makes her very nervous when I am around. Jack was always the outgoing one in their pair. She is shy and quiet. The rest of my clan finally started eating.

I would imagine she is, but I think she will eat when she's ready. Animals have instinct first and foremost. I don't think she will let herself starve to death. Maybe call a vet and see if there's anything you can do to get her back to her usual self?

Click to view attachmentI have a story to share about my bird that lost her mate. I have to condense it as it is quite long so will leave out some details. To make a long story short, I had an Indian ringneck named Tiki. After 2 years I decided he needed a cage companion. At the time the ONLY IRN available locally was a female exbreeder bird. I knew nothing about breeder birds except they made babies. The seller did ask "You don't want to handle her do you, just look at her?" Sure I can handle that I told him. Well, when I picked her up, I realized what he meant as he put on gloves to get her out of the crate. I got my first bite from her when I got her home and it was a chunk of skin out of my arm and later out of my nose. I decided she was just to be looked at then and never tried to handle her. I had no relationship with her, but Tiki learned to love her.
3 years later out of total stupidity on my part, Tiki flew away. (Long story in itself, but I won't go into detials) Leah, my exbreeder bird got very depressed. She would walk around the house looking for him and calling him. She just sat on her cage and stared at the corner and barely ate anything at all. I took her to the vet and she had lost 12 grams. She went from 135 to 123. I had began taking her with me to search for Tiki every day. I quickly learned how to towel her and get her in a crate. She began looking forward to this and knew we were looking for him. She would listen intently even from inside the car for him and in one spot, she would always call out= every time we went by. But I have no idea what she was hearing as I could never hear him or see him
Well, about 3 weeks after Tiki flew off I hear Leah all excited in my living room. She was standing in front of a mirror leaning against the wall and she was dancing around saying "Leah" that is what she called him. Although the words weren't comming out of her mouth, she was saying "Oh, there you are!" It made her day and she marched down the hall to my bedroom to tell me she found him. This was the first time in her life she EVER made an attempt at a relationship toward me. SHE WAS SO HAPPY. The next morning my husband woke me up to show me that Leah was on our oscialating fan while it was oscilating. She came all the way down to our bedroom to be with me and watch me sleep. She became a happy bird and even seemed happy to be the only bird. I now have 10 more.
Anyway Leah has a new cage mate, but over a year ago she chose me as her mate as now I can actually touch her and kiss her and scratch her neck, stretch out her wing feathers. She does the classic tilt head back, roll eyes and goes into a trance for me. I don't encourage it, but it's nice being loved by her. She wont step up yet, but I think one day she will.
That same vet that saw her after Tiki flew off said "Because she's an exbreeder, an indian ringneck, a female and her age (she was 7 at the time) that I'd never be able to tame her and it would stress her out to try. We're half way there doc!!!! And it's all her doing. he gained all her weight back and wieghed in at 155 grams last year.
I know there is hope for Jill being very happy again. They need some time to grieve and as Leah proved they will find a way to bounce back. At least the nutriberries are a complete meal, so I think you're doing the right thing giving her all she wants. My vets love nutriberries.
Keeping you Jill and Jack in my prayers
