I went in this morning to feed and heard a little peep and thought wow she is talking to me. She came out and I looked and low and behold there is this tiny little fuzzy baby trying to hold its head up. You guys were right it just melted my heart to know that at least I have a piece of Jack. This baby looks to have the white fuzz. That would mean that he is blue like his daddy was. Is this correct?
Jill has ate at some point this morning before I fed again. Since then she has not. How do I know if she is feeding this little one? She is staying right there keeping him/her warm and the other eggs warm. Surely, she is feeding the baby. This is not her first clutch.
My Cinnamon (Cinny) has 2 eggs today. I am excited but still miss Jack. It is a little easier knowing that Jill has the baby to keep her mind off of Jack.
That you all so much!

Awww, how sweet.

I have no answers for you because I have absolutely no experience with breeding. I Just wanted to say I'm glad for you and Jill that she now has a baby and seems to be taking care of it. I would assume that the work associated with taking care of a clutch of babies by herself will keep her busy and she may not have the time miss Jack so much.

So glad to hear this. I am sure it will help.
And it's how it goes, sometimes, these circles/cycles. I have a little cousin who was born on the day that, a long time ago, her grandmother (my mom) passed away (and that was on her brother's birthday).

Awww precious news. Hopefully later she will take in the new male you will have for her too. I know your sad it makes me sad too to think of Jack. Thankfully sadness does somewhat fade....with time
I have no breeding experience but Im sure her instinct will guide her correctly as youve said shes the experienced lil Mother in the past.

Awwww that's great that you have a baby today

If you can peek again without disturbing mom check out the babies crop. You'll be able to see if she's feeding or not. Just make sure to have lots of food available for her b/c she'll need it for her baby as well as herself.

I have to agree. I know nothing about breeding per se, except to say that mom has to eat to feed the kiddies. If mom don't eat, either will the kids. Check the crop of the babies, if it is bigger than you saw it before, that means that the babies are being fed.......
Good luck

She actually has 2 this morning. Yesterday I didn't disburb the little guy. Today I picked them both up. They are so tiny and precious. She seems to be feeding them. She is eating better herself and not looking for Jack as much.
I plan on keeping a blue male and naming him Jackie after his daddy. My goal is to keep a visual cinnamon from Cinny and Piper to mate with little Jackie. Of course, they will be pets for the first year.
I figured they would hatch being bald but their covered in fuzz they are so cute!

Awww , that's so cute, can't wait til you can get pictures. I am not positive but I think you want to avoid touching them, if you PM Andie or Connie, they would be able to tell you for sure.
