Today was Cricket's first car ride (other than when he came home). My niece asked me to bring Cricket to my nephews birthday party. Part of me wanted to leave him home because there were going to be a lot of people and the other part didn't want me to leave him home alone all day. So I cleaned the parakeets old cage and off we went.

He clung to the side of the cage and tried to get as close to me as he could. Once we were there he was perfect. He let people pet him and hold him. I put him in a back bedroom two times so he could nap. When I heard him call (or scream lol) for me I would bring him back out.

I'm so proud of Cricket. He did a great job especially since there were a few rambuncious 6 years old boys running around.

Cricket slept most of the way home and couldn't get back into his cage fast enough so he could go to sleep since it was 2 hours past his bedtime! I think I may have a crabby bird tomorrow but it was worth it!

Wow, sounds like Cricket had lots of fun! Congrats!

We took Casey for her first car ride last week (lots of fun!), but no where near as exciting as a birthday party!!! smile.gif

way to go Cricket for being such a good birdy ohmy.gif)

reminds me of the day I took Yogi for his first ride. We had to wait for a friend outside a restaurant, and Yogi was getting a little anxious.

I had the heat on, and the windows up, so I let him out of his carrier. He was strolling along the dash looking outside, and doing his trademark grumble (does this when he's being nosy, and investigating).

I didn't realize what a stir he was creating until an elderly gentleman tapped on my window. By this time Yogi was happily munching on some pellets on the headrest of the seat.

The gentleman says to me "you have a bird in your car" roflmbo.

I said "yes..he's my bird". This just amazed the man hehehe. He called his wife over, and said "wouldya lookit that, her bird likes to travel" hahahahahaaha.

It was so cute. I can't wait for the warmer weather so we can get out more.

Glad you and Cricket, and all the party guests had such a good time.

today is the day after i took Cricket to the birthday party. he went to bed around 10:00pm last night which was 3 hours later than normal.

i woke up at 10:30am. i didn't wake up to any screaming birds at 8:00am. i admit... it scared me for a minute! i got up and started making Cricket his breakfast and as soon as he heard me he started screaming.

i tried feeding him is oatmeal but he didn't want to eat at all. he just wanted to sit on top of his new travel cage. i let him sit there for about an hour then i put him back in his cage.

he decided he wanted to take a bath in his water dish. he looked like a drowned rat. he wanted back out of his cage but not to sit on my shoulder. he wanted back on his travel cage.

i put him back in his cage at naptime but he huddled at the bottom of his cage... all fluffed up and shivering. scared the crap out of me! i took him out and cuddle with him for awhile then placed him in his sleeping spot.

i think he was just crabby today because i messed up his schedule yesterday because he wanted nothing to do with me today! almost like he's mad at me.

How cool that he went and had a good time. We are taking Pistachio on vacation with us and the car ride is going to be about 5 hours. So we are making little trips out here and there to get her used to the car ride.

It is nice that he recovered well.
