Hi. My name is Cheryl, the mother of 13 (feathered, furred, & earned). I have 3 children, I dog (maltese), I cat, 2 budgies, I amazing cockatiel, 1gr.cheek conure, 1 lovebird (there's irony in that term), 1 linnie , my new baby quaker, and a rat named Bob. I just picked up my Quaker yesterday, a boy, and I had the name Sioma picked out but now I'm not so sure. I took a year to discern if I was ready to take on a new member of my family and I can't tell you how happy and excited we've all been to welcome "Sioma-what's his name" into our home. It's obvious who's boss(or atleast assumes he is) now that he's here though. He's super affectionate, calm, responsive...and hates to be missing out on anything!!
The only disruption so far is my conure is not pleased. We've been training (she's working on a few tricks and has just spoken her first word "peek")and this morning...her first real glimpse of Sioma, left her frozen on the spot. She refused her bath..blew me off on all dancing, speaking, etc. She, Layla is her name, has always preferred my son and is so sucky with him. I'm only a slight second in the running (because I feed her) and she dislikes my daughter. I'm hoping she'll turn around eventually.

Thanks for all the words of welcome all! Sioma's been on his 2nd car ride....loves to get lost in my hair....is eating well....and is definitely trying to vocalize (2 sylables ending with an "ee"....I'll keep y'all posted). I'm trying to get the kids to just let him be so I don't end up with an attention getting monster...but he's just soooo CUTE!!!
Layla (conure) loves me again..
